**Position Summary**

The Database, Research, and Stewardship Officer holds the critical role of leading the ongoing development and improvement, as well as day-to-day configuration, support, and maintenance of IISD’s Salesforce Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) system. The Database, Research, and Stewardship Officer is responsible for organizing IISD’s prospect research activities, including completing and analyzing research profiles and safeguarding this information. Reporting to the Director of Philanthropy, the Database, Research, and Stewardship Officer is responsible for the performance, integrity, accuracy, security, and analysis of the Salesforce database structure and content. This position will ensure proper use of the donor database by other staff and provide training and coaching. Accordingly, they will bring oversight to ensure accurate and timely gift entry and acknowledgement, generate accurate reports and targeted mailing lists, and provide analysis of giving trends to support IISD’s fundraising and marketing efforts. In addition, the Database, Research, and Stewardship Officer will maintain a solid stewardship plan for all gifts and relationships in collaboration with the team.

**Essential database functions include, but are not limited to, the following**:

- Manage all aspects of Salesforce and IISD’s digital giving infrastructure.
- Manage implementation of all data enrichment services through Salesforce; remain knowledgeable and up to date regarding Salesforce’s offerings, integrations, and best practices.
- Lead and coordinate internal training to ensure continuous organizational knowledge and optimization, including managing user access and onboarding and training new users.
- Lead on identifying opportunities for increased efficiency and intelligent optimization of Salesforce and its available integrations for gift, donor, and stakeholder management functions.
- Develop, document, and maintain processes and standard operating practices.
- In consultation with the Philanthropy Manager, the Digital Giving and Engagement officer, and the Communications team, build and track new Salesforce and Pardot campaigns.
- Design, oversee, evaluate, and refine the mechanics and mapping of all types of donation forms in collaboration with philanthropy colleagues to optimize donor experience.
- Manage the gift entry and acknowledgement process to ensure incoming data is accurately coded and donors receive appropriate and timely acknowledgement.
- Manage and facilitate all pledge reminders and acknowledgement communications to donors and partners from the philanthropy department, in consultation with philanthropy colleagues.
- Manage month-end processing, troubleshooting, and data auditing to support the monthly reconciliation report and review with the finance team.
- Design and deliver clear and accurate reporting and analytics to enable IISD to track revenue and giving trends and identify new opportunities for support.
- Design and produce accurate queries, exports, reports, and lists as needed by development and communications staff for donor mailings, newsletters, annual report event invitations, moves management, and donor lists in a timely and systematic manner.
- Create customized dashboards for fundraising staff to track and reflect revenue progress.
- Occasionally work evenings or weekends to support fundraising and donor appreciation events.
- Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the database by updating duplicate accounts, deceased or inactive constituents, bad addresses, general contact information, and the regular updating and maintenance of donor solicitation preferences. Provide administrative support for IISD’s fundraising activities as needed.
- Prioritize relationship management and cultivate a culture of philanthropy.
- Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

**Essential research functions include, but are not limited to, the following**:

- Active learner who stays current regarding changes in the prospect research field by monitoring market trends and engaging in professional learning and development.
- Lead on identifying and researching high net worth individuals, trusts and foundations, companies, community partners, and high-profile influencers.
- Work on prospect research strategy across IISD’s activities.
- Develop and manage processes to ensure a steady pipeline of prospective donors and advise on solicitation and stewardship strategies.
- Support the development of the major giving prospect pipeline; ensure all qualified research data is organized in Salesforce.
- Utilizing Salesforce, lead on network mapping and provide information to ensure that relationships are being maximized in the solicitation process.
