**The Ministry of the Solicitor General, Ontario Provincial Police, and the North East Region Commander are seeking a qualified person to join our team. In this exciting, rewarding and challenging opportunity, you will perform media relations activities within the region and act as a resource person to regional Command Staff, Unit/Detachment Commanders, Community Mobilization and Engagement Coordinators and field personnel in the development and implementation of external and internal communication strategies.**

**About Us**:
The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is one of North America's largest deployed police services with more than 5,800 uniformed officers, 2,400 civilian employees and 830 Auxiliary officers. We provide essential services that ensure the safety and security of the people of the Province of Ontario. The OPP is a division of the Ministry of the Solicitor General, the largest operational ministry in the province with a presence in every community across Ontario. We are the largest police service in Ontario and the second largest in Canada.

From Moosonee Detachment in the north, Mattawa Detachment in the east, White River Detachment in the west, to the West Parry Sound and Almaguin Highlands Detachments in the south, the North East Region of the OPP encompasses a geographical area of 423,173 sq. kilometers. Major Trans Canada Highway routes pass through the region, and weather permitting, there are two ice roads that stretch to the James Bay coast.

OPP North East Region provides policing to over 190,000 permanent residents and to more than 400,000 people when including temporary/seasonal residents. There are thousands of pristine waterways, trails and picturesque landscapes that provide endless opportunities for year-round living, vacationing, sporting, and recreational activities.

**About the job**: Lead regional media relations efforts and serve as a trusted communications advisor to regional Command Staff, Detachment and Unit Commanders, Community Mobilization and Engagement Coordinators, and frontline personnel while consulting as required with the Provincial Relations Coordinator in Corporate Communications Bureau. Support the development and execution of strategic internal and external communication initiatives that enhance public trust, promote organizational transparency, and improve community engagement.
