Position Summary
The Human Resources Consultant in the Workplace Health & Safety Branch is seeking an experienced and passionate leader who strives for safety excellence and is driven to make a positive difference while promoting and supporting a culture of safety.
Reporting to the Manager, Workplace Health & Safety and within an assigned portfolio, the Human Resources Consultant will build relationships with clients and become a trusted advisor to provide direction and consultation on matters related to workplace injuries, safety violations, harassment and workplace hazards. Key Duties & Responsibilities
Lead workplace investigations and provide evidence-based recommendations on the mitigation of risks and ensuring adherence to both corporate and government regulations and policies.
Prepare strategic reports and communication of safety programs and performance to stakeholders.
Assist in the development of standardized safety systems, policies, training, safety campaigns and programs to educate and create awareness and compliance.
Facilitate Corporate Health and Safety Orientation and Safety Training as required.
Other related duties as assigned. Key Qualifications
Completion of formal education in occupational health and safety or the health professional field and a minimum of five (5) years of experience in occupational health and safety.
You will also have a deep, specialist level knowledge of legislation and best practices in occupational health and safety.
Direct experience in conducting complex investigations, root cause analysis, worksite inspections, safety audits and hazard assessments is required.
Possess exceptional professional judgment, diplomacy, and the ability to build and nurture strong relationships.
Excel in navigating ambiguity, complexity, and conflict, maintaining composure and leading by example in challenging situations
Experienced in leading investigations, audits, and assessments to promote safe and compliant work environments.
Knowledgeable in health and safety legislation and best practices, offering practical, evidence-based solutions.
A strong communicator with the ability to convey complex information clearly to various audiences. Working/Other Conditions
Travel will be required; therefore, a valid class 5 driver's license and vehicle will be required. A travel allowance is provided.
