Queens Association for Supported Living (QASL) is a leading non-profit organization dedicated to providing choices and opportunities to adults with disabilities. As a dual-service organization, we offer community living options as well as day program opportunities through our vocational center and social enterprises. Our mission is to empower individuals to live fulfilling lives through person-centered planning, advocacy and support as they reach for their dreams and make decisions about their own lives.
QASL is seeking an experienced Residential/Human Resource Manager to oversee our community homes program. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Residential/HR Manager will provide leadership and support to our dedicated staff and supervisors while ensuring overall adherence to the philosophies, policies and procedures of QASL as well as compliance with provincial regulatory requirements. Collaborating with the HR assistant and working closely with other senior managers, the Residential/HR Manager will play a key role in shaping the future of our organization, considering the sector’s evolving landscape due to the Human Rights remedy.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Oversee and coordinate the community homes program, supporting house supervisors to effectively manage their respective teams and ensuring the delivery of high-quality services to individuals with disabilities.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of licensing and regulatory requirements relevant to services for persons with disabilities under the Disability Support Program, ensuring compliance at all times.
- Provide training and guidance in developing Individualized Life Plans (IPPs), quarterly reports, support and care plans; ensuring they align with organizational goals, regulatory requirements and most importantly reflect the aspirations and desired outcomes of the individuals who choose our services.
- Mentor, train and evaluate house supervisors ensuring fiscal responsibility as well as compliance with QASL policies and procedures, licensing and core competency requirements.
- Collaborate with the HR assistant to ensure compliance with HR policies and procedures including recruitment, onboarding and retention, training and development, performance management as well as compensation and benefits.
- Promote and adhere to the guiding principles of Respect, Integrity, Caring, Knowledge (R.I.C.K.).
- Demonstrate emotional intelligence and tact in handling difficult conversations, conflicts, and performance management.
- Display effective leadership in ensuring occupational health and safety compliance while actively fostering a culture of workplace safety and well-being.
- Flexibility with scheduling and availability to meet the dynamic needs of the community homes program, providing back-up on-call support.
- Serve as a mentor to staff and supervisors, fostering professional growth and development through coaching, feedback, and training opportunities. Promotes diversity, equity and inclusion throughout the organization.
- Demonstrates exceptional organizational skills, along with superior stress and time management to effectively prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a person-centered, fast-paced environment.
- Collaborate with senior management to identify areas for improvement, develop strategies for program enhancement, and contribute to organizational planning.
- Coordinate regular team meetings to promote communication, collaboration, and problem-solving among staff teams.
- Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Human Services with a minimum five (5) years experience in a management role.
- Experience working directly with individuals with disabilities and a strong understanding of self advocacy.
- Knowledge of licensing requirements under the Disability Support Program, an understanding about current trends in service development as well as the Human Rights Review and Remedy Report.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented with a proven track record of meeting deadlines and managing multiple priorities concurrently.
- Strong leadership abilities with the capacity to inspire and empower staff, and an aptitude for peacefully engaging others, facilitating complex conversations and designing strategies that can result in stronger teamwork and more informed decision making.

- Strong interpersonal skills, with the capacity to relate well with families, community partners, government bodies and diverse stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate effectively with the senior management team.
