The Display and Design Assistant supports the Aesthetics Department in creating, installing, and maintaining visual decorations and themed displays throughout West Edmonton Mall, including Parks & Attractions and the Fantasyland Hotel. This role combines artistry, creativity, and hands-on work with both artificial and live plant materials to enhance the overall guest experience.
**PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Assist with painting and maintaining decorative finishes in planters and seasonal displays across all mall areas.
- Create, install, and maintain live and artificial plant displays, including watering, pruning, cleaning, and refreshing arrangements as needed.
- Install and maintain artificial planted beds, ensuring they remain clean, dust-free, and visually appealing.
- Maintain open communication with the Visual Design Manager, Artist Team, and Visual Design Team to ensure consistent and cohesive theme execution.
- Take a hands-on role in the setup and teardown of promotional and seasonal installations.
- Conduct regular site visits to ensure all displays meet visual, horticultural, and quality standards.
- Perform other related duties as required.

**DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Experience assisting in visual design, floral design, or retail display is an asset.
- Basic knowledge of horticulture and live plant care—including watering, maintenance, and plant selection—is strongly preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently while achieving creative and task-based goals.
- Physically able to stand for extended periods, walk long distances, and lift up to 50 lbs in varied environments.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word).
- A valid Class 5 driver’s license is considered an asset.

**TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT**:

- This is a full-time position required Monday through Friday 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM
- Flexible availability may be required for days, evenings and weekends during the fall and winter seasons.
- Must be able to pass a basic security clearance.
