Responsible for assisting in the smooth and efficient operation of the housekeeping and laundry departments and attaining GSS/WIG/HES goals and promoting Brilliant Hosting.
**YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE**:
- Assist with the communication of expectations to departmental hosts through recruitment & selection, monthly departmental meetings, performance reviews, training & development, and scheduling.
- Assist with the purchasing and cleaning of all uniforms in the hotel.
- Provide operational support to other departments concerning housekeeping and laundry issues.
- Assist with liaising and supervising the work of outside contractors.
- Ensure effective communication by conducting regular briefings with Housekeeping/Laundry hosts.
- During stand-up briefings reiterate Art of Hosting and Daily Packet training. Help to develop, motivate and orient all Housekeeping/Laundry hosts by providing direction to deliver Brilliant Hosting.
- Ensure a safe work environment and adhere to the Occupational Health and Safety Legislation and hotel policies to accident and incident reporting procedures. Ensure adherence to proper handling of chemicals (WHMIS).
- Audit and inspect guestrooms, VIP rooms, and public areas daily.
- Ensure all guestware room deficiency items have been followed up on and resolved.
- Organize and conduct guest supply and linen inventory.
- Ensure all Room Inspectors continually inspect assigned areas and have turned in the inspection.
- Ensure Front-of-the-House public area standards are excellent at all times.
- Ensure all reports are prepared completely and on time.
- Provide coaching and regular feedback concerning job performance.
- Ensure effective and complete training is in use and all hosts are well trained.
- Ensure proper key controls are in effect.
- Take accurate linen inventories per Standard Operating Procedures.
- Review out-of-order rooms daily.
- Ensure Lost & Found articles are stored properly and logs are maintained.
- Take an accurate guest supply inventory every period.
- Ensure excellent grooming standards and uniform standards are maintained by the hosts.
- Enforce the hotel’s policies and procedures as set out in the Employee Handbook and Collective Agreement.
- Ensure all assignments given by the Executive Housekeeper are followed through.
- Ensure compliance with all Hotel Emergency Procedures.
- Other reasonable duties as required.
**JOB SPECIFICATIONS**:
- **Education/Experience and skills**_
- Progressive housekeeping experience including at least 2 years in housekeeping management or similar.
- Diploma or Certificate in Hotel Management preferred.
- Bilingualism (English & French) an asset.
- Experience in other hospitality related departments preferred.
- Must be able to work Weekends and variable shifts.
- **Complexity/Analysis**:_
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Highly motivated and results oriented.
- Proven team player and team motivator.
- Strong ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to work in fast-paced environment and work independently.
- Computer literate and working knowledge of Marsha, Excel, Word.
