**Job Summary**
Dalhousie University, under the leadership of the Vice-President Research & Innovation, administers over $214M annually in research funding. As part of the Office of the Vice-President Research & Innovation and reporting to the Associate Vice President Research (AVPR), the primary functions of the Manager are to initiate, implement, and manage the Dalhousie Core Facilities (DalCore) program efficiently and effectively, providing support to Dalhousie research facilities and their users. As a strategic and operational leader, the Manager of Operations, Core Facilities advises the AVPR in relation to the DalCore program and must build and maintain effective working relationships with faculty and research-related staff both within and beyond Dalhousie.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Provides key strategic support to Associate Vice President Research, Assistant Vice President Research Services and other leaders in the Office of Vice President Research and Innovation in relation to the Core Facilities program and research infrastructure at Dalhousie.
- Maintains an inventory of DalCore infrastructure and monitors anticipated upgrades and renewal plans for each facility, providing strategic advice on resource allocation.
- Responsible for the operational oversight of the DalCore infrastructure program, including financial management. Specifically, this includes, but is not limited to, the development of policies and procedures to maximize success, leadership of the DalCore program, and marketing of the facilities to both internal and external users.
- Provide support to staff running individual facilities and respond to support issues raised by faculty and students.
- Supervises the Financial Officer, providing them with appropriate staff orientation and training, regular performance updates and professional development opportunities.

**Note**

The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.

**Required Qualifications**
- Master's degree in a relevant field, plus five years' progressive management responsibility in a research support capacity, with a thorough understanding of the environment necessary to enhance research equipment utilization (or an equivalent combination of training and experience).
- Must be results oriented, performance driven, and demonstrate excellent judgment and initiative.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills, clarity and diplomacy are key in dealing with senior administration, researchers, and administrators.
- Demonstrated experience in research and in research support through research facility management and report preparation.
- Understanding of and experience with implementing information technology solutions in research.

- Experience in research instrument maintenance, particularly in a multi-user environment, asset management policies and procedures, and Banner transaction management and reporting.
