About Our Opportunity

If yes, we have an exciting opportunity for you to explore as Manager, Operations and Projects with African Nova Scotian Affairs. The Manager, Operations and Projects reports to the Executive Director, African Nova Scotian Affairs (Halifax) and supports the work of the Office. In this position, you will lead a group of administrative staff in the delivery of a wide range of administrative, financial and project-related services within African Nova Scotian Affairs.

Primary Accountabilities

Manage the provision of corporate services, such as administrative support, procurement, accounting functions, and records management system;
Manage an administrative team performing administrative, transactional work;
Coordinates, analyses and recommends operating expenditures, including monitoring, forecasting and reporting on budgets;
Ensure office procedures are standardized, efficient and effective;
Provide leadership for change initiatives related to the people, processes and systems of African Nova Scotia Affairs and for continuous improvement in efficiency and customer service delivery;
Provide leadership within the division for corporate initiatives such as the Occupational Health and Safety System, mandatory training, and employee;
Ensure the effective management of human and financial resources, promote diversity and a healthy, respectful workplace, and promote teamwork and individual development.

Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role you will have a business degree and five years experience, a business diploma and five years experience or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.

You have a strong financial/accounting background, and your understanding of human resource management processes and principles and the ability to be effective in a structured and defined human resource environment are necessary along with your knowledge of and ability to manage projects of various sizes.

Experience in a government environment and community development would be considered assets.

Normal work week is 35 hours/week, 7 hours/day
