The opportunity

The Accounting Analyst will support the preparation, review and communication of financial information primarily related to Foothills Pipe Lines Ltd. (Foothills) and TransCanada Pipeline Ventures Limited Partnership (Ventures LP) pipelines. This role reports to the Manager, Operating Pipelines Accounting - West, with working level supervision by the Team Lead, NGTL/Foothills Accounting.

What you’ll do
- Perform month-end accounting processes; inclusive of journal entries, reconciliations and presenting monthly results
- Compile and review information for internal and external financial reporting, toll filings, regulatory reporting, budgets and forecasts
- Act as one of the primary contacts with respect to financial analysis and accounting information
- Proactively analyze financial information and/or accounting processes to identify issues and ensure appropriate timely resolution of these issues
- Develop and maintain Excel models used to support accounting, reporting, and regulatory processes
- Respond to external auditor queries on accounting and reporting issues
- Respond to ad hoc requests to support Commercial and Regulatory initiatives
- Other ad hoc tasks as required.

Minimum qualifications
- Successful completion of an undergraduate degree from a recognized post-secondary institution
- Five (5)+ years of progressive related experience
- CPA (CA/CMA/CGA) professional accounting designation or enrolment in the program required
- Superior analytical and problem-solving skills
- Advanced knowledge of Excel with ability to optimize Excel models
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
- Admirable ability to perform effectively under tight deadlines with multiple priorities
- Proven team player, with the ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships
- Driven by continuous improvement and innovation

Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of SAP and BPC
- Rate Regulated Accounting
