**Job Position: Accounts Payable Analyst**

**Type: Full Time Term Contract (14-month maternity leave coverage - November 2024 start)**

**Purpose**:
The Accounts Payable Analyst reports to the Finance Analyst and Accounts Payable Manager and is responsible for all aspects of the accounts payable function, including processing invoices & payments for expenditures, developing efficient and streamlined procedures, following established internal controls, recommending improvements, recording accurate and complete month-end journal entries, and reconciliation of accounts payable accounts.

**Accountabilities / Functional Duties**
- Processing timely and accurate entry of invoices in the accounting system ensuring correct coding and:
matching, including corporate credit card transactions, employee expense reports, etc.;
- Adhering to expenditure authorization documents and keeping them up-to-date by employee name;
- Processing timely and accurate payments of invoices;
- Meeting month-end close timelines;
- Complete monthly bank reconciliations;
- Managing vendor relationship;
- Investigate and correct invoice discrepancies and errors;
- Identifying and resolving vendor issues, such as reconciling vendor statements, unpaid / incorrect
invoices, etc;
- Working collaboratively with partners, both internal and external, on a regular basis to effectively resolve issues or corrections that may arise;
- Primary support to employees for all accounts payable related queries;
- Responsible for complete and accurate accounting entries related to all aspects of accounts payable, including month-end accruals;
- Responsible for accurate and timely reconciliations of accounts payable balance sheet accounts;
- Responsible for compliance of accounts payable internal controls, such that activities prevent, detect and remedy errors in a timely manner;
- Develop and maintain process documentation for all accounts payable processes, including efficient processing and payment of invoices, credit cards, expense reports;
- Identify and implement process improvements through process review, efficient use of technology;
- Responsible for maintenance of the vendor file system and master data within Great Plains;
- Prepare accounts payable related working papers and provide backup required for the annual audit;
- Provide requested information, responses and assistance to external auditors on a timely basis;
- Assist in providing ad hoc analysis, decision support and recommendations;
- Special projects as required.

**Skills and Qualifications**:

- Ability to demonstrate professionalism at all times;
- Solid understanding of full cycle accounts payable, accounting principles and control environments;
- Self-motivated individual, proactive to identify and implement changes to improve process efficiency and accuracy;
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and time management;
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task efficiently;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills;
- Ability to work under pressure and committed to making sure deadlines are maintained and achieved while ensuring accuracy and completeness of information;
- Must successfully complete a police background check.
- ** Education and Experience**:
Minimum 2 years experience working in a similar role;
- Previous experience with accounting entries and reconciliations;
- Ability to work with mínimal supervision;
- Knowledge of Great Plains and ReQLogic software considered an asset; and
- Previous experience working at a non-for-profit, charity and/or in the education services industry considered an asset.

**Working Conditions**:

- Alberta Ballet has core office hours of 9:30 - 4:30 Monday to Thursday; Hybrid option for Friday. Flexibility for start and end times available as per discussions with direct supervisor.
- Extensive desk work and sitting required for this position.
