**Who you are**
You are an experienced digital reporter and storyteller with a passion for local journalism. You have an expert knowledge of Edmonton and an insatiable curiosity to discover what’s new and report on people, places, and stories not covered by other media. You’re comfortable reporting on a wide range of topics such as local news, lifestyle, and culture that includes but is not exclusive to: breaking news, housing and real estate, events, food and restaurants, nightlife, shopping, local travel and outdoors, and the history of the city.

**What you'll do**
- Write and report on local news, culture, food, and lifestyle topics with an emphasis on original reporting, human interest stories, personal narratives, and storytelling related to events and experiences when appropriate.
- Flex your creative muscles by generating and pitching a regular flow of content ideas to editorial team leaders.
- Travel on assignment around the city to report on and create content and act as a brand ambassador for ZDN’s brands.
- Collaborate with other team members, including photographers, videographers, and social media content creators, and participate in regular meetings via Google Meet.
- Operate in a fast-paced environment with quick turnarounds and deadlines.

**What you have**
- Proven professional experience as a digital reporter writing news, lifestyle, food, culture, and/or other content about Edmonton or Alberta.
- Ability to work independently, be a self-starter, and succeed in a fast-paced environment, as well as work collaboratively with the team to bring ideas to life.
- Excellent time management and attention to detail.
- Willingness to work unconventional hours, evenings, and weekends totaling 40 hours per week.
- Familiarity with the Google Suite
- Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop is also an asset.
- An undergraduate or master’s degree in Journalism is an asset.
