Located in the heart of Niagara region, the Niagara District Airport is situated between Niagara Falls, Niagara-on-the-Lake and St. Catharines, providing a link to world-renowned theatres, wineries, festivals, restaurants, golf courses and casinos. We have a 5,000-foot runway, NAV Canada on site, and Customs clearance capacity, with Avgas and Jet Fuel refueling available. We are host to a wide variety of aviation activity, including flight training, executive and personal charters, helicopter, military and fixed wing sightseeing operations.

**Communications Manager**

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, this individual will plan, execute, and deliver on communications projects successfully, ensuring they align with organizational goals and drive business outcomes. This position requires strong communications skills, strategic thinking, problem-solving abilities, and effective collaboration with cross-functional teams. The responsibilities include support and leadership for a number of growth-related projects at the airport, moving forward on key tasks and developments related to the Airport’s 2023-2026 Strategic Plan.

This position is a one-year contract position, working 40 hours per week at Niagara District Airport, with the potential for future opportunity and/or extensions. General hours of work are Monday to Friday, from 8:30 to 5:00 p.m., with potential for meetings or other requirements outside of those standard hours. Salary expectations will be dependent on experience, and included as part of any interview process.

**PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Providing oversight, leadership and guidance on various projects directly related to the Airport’s 2023-26 Strategic Plan.
- Immediate support for existing projects, such as the Airport Redevelopment Project. This includes the Airport’s 20-year Master Plan, the Air Service and Route Development Strategy, a Financial Business Case, and additional studies with external stakeholders and consultants.
- Provision and presentation of information to specific stakeholders, including - but not limited to - the Niagara District Airport Commission, external Boards and Agencies, airlines and additional partners in the aviation industry, community partners (both public and private sector), various levels of government, and municipal councils.
- Supporting the development of partnerships with key stakeholders related to the projects, including government relations firms, aviation consultants, and government staff, to support the presentation of funding requests to Federal, Provincial, and local government agencies and departments.

**General Projects**
- Assist in the planning of short-term and long-term strategies surrounding the implementation, and progress of strategic initiatives. Support budgetary plans related to those projects.
- A number of communication initiatives, including outreach for internal projects, and support for the review and enhancements of a number of internal and externally focused communication mediums. This would include social media, and updates to website(s) related to the Airport and/or specific projects.
- Provision of regular reporting on projects to the CEO, Commission and municipal partners, adjusting as needed, and proactively identifying project risks and developing mitigation strategies.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- A University degree in Communications, Business Administration, or related field.
- Preferably a minimum of three (3) to five (5) years experience in communications, marketing, or public relations, with some broad, multi-disciplinary project management experience as well.
- Prior experience in aviation or other related fields of airport management would be considered a benefit, but is not necessary.
- Superior interpersonal skills, experience in working with various stakeholders to manage a project to specific goals. Ability to grow, build and maintain relationships across numerous sectors.
- Able to influence, collaborate and negotiate cross functionally, as well as with external stakeholders to achieve results.
- Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Office products.
