**Administrative Assistant for Music School** **The Scotia Suzuki School of Music teaches music to people of all ages, and focuses on students aged two to sixteen. We teach parents through the Suzuki method of music how to have strong, positive, learning relationships with their children. We are a staff of around 30 with about 25 teachers and have a wonderful community of just over 300 students. All of our teachers continue to be involved with teacher training, workshops and institutes to keep them at the highest level in their teaching practices. Suzuki teachers are members of and have been accredited by the Suzuki Association of the Americas.** **The Scotia Suzuki School is looking to hire Part-time Administrator and Assistant to the Director of the school. The applicant MUST love to have fun with kids and families We are looking for an employee who is cheerful, energetic, outgoing and organized. The school has a super fun atmosphere, and when open for in-person learning is full of music, laughter and energy** **Working hours for this position are from between 3-9:30pm Monday to Friday with more flexible additional hours including Saturdays and special events. The school follows the school year, and as such summer hours may be reduced.** **This position includes the following roles**: - Schedule, run and monitor lesson calendars online using Studio Helper, an online software - Registering new students and lesson coordination/scheduling - Help organize ACAC - Adult Community Arts Center in the Scotia Suzuki School - Organizing files and data entry - Front desk duties, including sign-ins, welcoming new students, basic cleaning if an emergency when regular cleaning person is not working, giving tours of the school, and providing information on different programs - Organizing parent nights, concerts and events - Help maintain costumes Key skills: - Advanced writing skills - Experience with data entry and file organization - Front-desk/reception experience - Experience with kids and families More about Christy, the Director: Christy has her Bachelor of Music Education from Acadia University where she studied violin from Edmund Agopian. Christy has received Suzuki training from Ronda Cole, Pat D’Ercole, Sherry Cadow, Dorthy Jones, Charles Krigbaum, and Martha Shackford. She is the Founder and Director of the Scotia Suzuki School of Music, the Nova Scotia Youth Ambassadors (performance group), and the Suzuki Practicing Academy. With three recordings and 8 years as the lead in the Celtic conference band Lochaber, She is experienced in performing. Christy has built with a wonderful team of Suzuki instructors an incredible Suzuki community of high-level musicians and has brought music into families' homes and children's lives in Halifax....even extending from Bridgewater to Windsor and to New Glasgow.
