**Métis Access to Post-Secondary (MAPS) Program Lead**
**Location**: Central Office, Edmonton, AB
**Position Status**:Full-time (40 hours/week), One year Contract
**The Organization**
Rupertsland Institute (RLI) is an affiliate of the Otipemisiwak Métis Government and has a triple mandate in education, training, and research. With a decentralized network of 9 METI-Service Centres, a Corporate Head Office in Edmonton, and two mobile service units; RLI designs and delivers training and education services to more than 140,000 Alberta Métis.

**The Opportunity**
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Provide day-to-day coordination and support to the MAPS Advisors (North and South regions), ensuring alignment and regional coverage.
- Lead regular team check-ins and coaching sessions to enhance collaboration and service delivery.
- Support the development and implementation of annual work plans, performance targets, and evaluation frameworks.
- Coordinate the creation and distribution of culturally relevant outreach materials, resources, and events that promote Métis access to post-secondary education.
- Serve as a central contact for schools, school divisions, and community organizations involved in the MAPS initiative.
- Build and maintain relationships with parents, Elders, educators, and community leaders to strengthen outreach and program impact.
- Represent the MAPS program at youth-focused events, education forums, and community engagement sessions across Alberta.
- Track MAPS activities and outcomes, and prepare reports in accordance with RLI and Government of Alberta (GOA) requirements.
- Contribute to grant reporting and data collection under the MAPS funding agreement from the GOA.
- Monitor program expenditures and collaborate with the Education Manager to align budgets with program objectives.
- Identify opportunities to enhance MAPS service delivery and student support initiatives.
- Ensure alignment between MAPS activities and broader RLI Education and Student Services strategies.
- Collaborate with other departments (e.g., Communications, Research and Evaluation) to highlight success stories, analyze impact, and support systemic advocacy.
- Other duties as required or assigned.
**Skills and Competencies**:
- Strong knowledge of Alberta’s post-secondary system and the challenges Métis students face in accessing and succeeding in post-secondary education.
- Excellent interpersonal and public relations skills with the ability to engage effectively with students, families, educators, and other stakeholders.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to write and prepare clear, concise documents such as contracts, proposals, reports, and other correspondence.
- Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment and be adaptable and flexible to changing priorities.
- Effective time management, planning, and multi-tasking skills, with the ability to work within set deadlines and manage various demands.
- Strong sense of ethics and the ability to handle and maintain confidentiality for sensitive or private information. Adherence to privacy legislation.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and retain teams, including coaching, mentoring, and supporting staff in a collaborative and accountable work environment.
- Strong analytical skills and critical thinking skills with the ability to identify issues and solutions to overcome problems.
- Strong sense of cultural and political sensitivity and awareness, with a genuine interest and respect for a diversity of people.
- Proficiency in managing financial data and developing and managing work plans.
- Knowledge of Otipemisiwak Métis Goverment, Rupertsland Institute, and Métis Training to Employment services.
- Basic understanding of labour market conditions, and economic and employment outlook is an asset.
**Qualifications**:
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Education, Social Services, Indigenous Studies, or a related field.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in youth/student support, education, program coordination, or community outreach.
- Experience working in or with Indigenous—especially Métis—communities or organizations is a strong asset.
**Other Requirements**:
- Ability to work a regular schedule of 8:30am-4:30pm Monday to Friday.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends, as required.
- Ability to travel throughout Alberta, as required.
- Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.
- Submission of a clear Vulnerable Sector Police Information Check.
