**Summer Métis Family Resource Assistant**
**Location**: Métis Nation of Alberta Provincial Head Office, Edmonton AB
**Position Status**: Full Time (40 hrs per week), Summer Student (May-August)

**The Opportunity**
**Key Responsibilities**
- Research and provide support in resource finding for families and caregivers within the Métis Family Resource Program (MFRP).
- Assist in the development of presentations and forms regularly used by the MFRP.
- Participate and represent the MNA in community engagements and other opportunities.
- Present a positive and professional image of the organization when interacting with employees, citizens, visitors, and other external stakeholders.
- Assist with administration of MNA Provincial events & programs.
- Other duties as required or assigned.
**Skills & Competencies**
We are looking for motivated, confident individuals who are passionate about helping Métis families through research and community resources. Commitment to teamwork is required in dealing with colleagues in an everyday working environment. Other skills/competencies include:
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships.
- Strong planning and organizational skills, with an ability to organize and prioritize daily tasks and long-term objectives.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

- Flexible and adaptable, with an ability to switch between multiple priorities.
- Ability to work with and convey messages to different audiences.
- Ability to produce professional reports, documents, and presentations.
- Political and cultural sensitivity.
- Compassionate, empathetic, and trustworthy.
- Knowledge of Métis history, culture, and issues affecting Métis people. An in-depth understanding of the MNA and Métis culture is an asset.
**Qualifications**
- Post-secondary education in Human/Social Service or a related field is preferred. Other relevant training and experience will be considered.
- Experience working in the Human Services field is an asset. School or volunteer experience is valid experience.
- Indigenous Awareness Training is an asset.
**Other Requirements**
- Availability to work Monday to Friday 8:30 am - 4:30 pm.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends, with notice.
- Ability to travel throughout Alberta is a requirement.
- Reliable transportation and valid Class 5 driver’s license.
- Clear Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Check, and Child Intervention Check.
