We’re looking for a Business Development Manager, Events who can bring that story to life. Someone who can blend the art of planning events with the heart of Métis culture. What You’ll Get to Do As our Business Development Manager, Events you’ll lead the teams to ensure group events are manageable from a visitor experience and facilities perspective. This position will focus on growing revenue by proactively acquiring new meetings and event business. You’ll craft memorable moments that blend authentic Métis warmth with modern comfort and care. You will: Proactively acquire new/existing Corporate, Government, Association accounts through targeted prospecting, strategic sales calls, and on-going client engagement to promote long term loyalty and repeat businesses. Proactively acquire weddings by managing promotional activities executed by our advertising agency, following up on existing inquiries and participating in consumer shows as identified in the strategy. Prepare client sales proposals & contracts through the property management system. Track annual business closing rate. Manage client records, ensuring bookings are recorded and updated as required as well as future traces are set in the property management system. Coordinate client tours and site inspections with the Coordinator, Business Development for new and existing clients. Identify low occupancy times where business is needed and align sales efforts to generate revenue. Liaise with industry and regional partners to build long lasting relationships. Proactively build and promote healthy, long-lasting customer relationships, including an understanding of current and potential future customers’ needs. Ensure open communication Respond to all client inquiries in a timely manner and provide problem resolution as needed. Assists with on-site events as required. Works cooperatively and in alignment with all other team members for the successful execution of events and groups. Required to maintain strong knowledge of local market conditions and all segments. Conduct timely post-group follow-up to ensure satisfaction and encourage repeat business. Attend events, consumer shows and sales blitzes and professionally represent the hotel to develop leads and build client base. Support the planning, coordination, and execution of promotional communications, in collaboration with the advertising agency. Collaborate with the Business Development team and advertising agency on the creation of content for promotions, collateral material, news releases, presentations and any other related marketing initiatives. Participate in member-based organizations and their networking events as determine by Métis Crossing. Meet and/or exceed monthly and annual sales targets. Every day, you’ll lead with heart and precision ensuring that the culture of Métis Crossing shines through every guest encounter. Who You Are You’re a natural host, part strategist, part part coach. You lead by example, know how to keep operations humming, and care deeply about people, your guests and your team alike. You have: Minimum of 5 years hotel sales experience required. Candidates with both Events and Travel Trade experience would be an asset. Post-secondary education through a recognized hospitality related program. Familiarity working with property management software and/or customer relationship management software. Maestro experience would be an asset. Must have a vehicle and ability to travel regionally. A deep appreciation for Métis or Indigenous culture and a desire to integrate cultural values into modern hospitality. The ability to stay calm under pressure and make quick, effective decisions that keep guests happy and teams motivated.
