Human Resources Manager/ Health and Safety Manager

We have an outstanding opportunity for an experienced professional at our St. Jean Sur Richelieu manufacturing facility as a Human Resource and Health & Safety Manager.
This position reports directly to the Vice President of Human Resources, NA. Key responsibilities include the overall administration and direction of the HR, payroll and Health & Safety (H&S) functions for Canada operations. Provides guidance and advice to the organization and assists with developing, implementing and evaluating HR and H&S policies, programs, practices and activities.
**Key Responsibilities**:
**HR**
- Plans, organizes and controls all activities of the department including development department goals, objectives and systems.
- Supervises and provides guidance to Payroll & HR personnel (Two direct reports).
- Counsels and coaches supervisors and managers as needed on areas such as employee engagement, communications, performance, disciplinary action, etc.
- Oversees and directs all HR initiatives including staffing, performance management, employee and labor relations, communications, payroll and benefits activities consistent with overall objectives of the organization.
- Monitors adherence to internal policies & standards.
- Leads negotiation of CA and administration contract including grievance and disciplinary processes.
- Directs and oversees the administration of HRIS system in order to establish and maintain accurate and complete employee and payroll records and reports.
- Maintains and expands knowledge and understanding of existing and proposed national and provisional laws/regulations. Interprets appropriate laws and policies and advises management, employees and retirees accordingly.
- Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.
**HEALTH & SAFETY & ENVIRONEMENT**
- Provides leadership in raising awareness, building commitment, collaboration and promoting best practices to meet H&S requirements and values.
- Supervises and provides guidance to H&S coordinator.
- Sets annual H&S objectives for the plant and monitor progress
- Ensure the proper functioning of the various H&S committees.
- Maintain ISO 45001 certification while ensuring that the processes and procedures required for the health and safety management system are established, implemented and maintained.
- Manage the system (CITSS, Markit, auction) for carbon credits.
- Monitor EHS statistics; observe and disclose EHS trends (Ratio).
- Provide monthly reports required by head office and implement and support any initiatives or programs required by corporate.
**Desired Skills & Experience**:
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- 5-7 years HR experience, preferably in a Manufacturing environment, and demonstrated leadership in Health and Safety.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and direct a team.
- Strong counselling, coaching and communication skills
- Experience in CA/contract negotiation and administration.
- Proven project and change management expertise, ability to work independently.
- Full understanding of HRIS and Payroll systems and processes.
- Knowledge of HR and H&S best practice approaches, tools and techniques.
- Experience of effectively recruiting, engaging and leading functional reports/ teams.
- Proficient in MS Office.
- Fluency in French and English (Bilingual) mandatory.
