Long Plain, Canada Long Plain First Nation Full time

The Housing Capacity Coordinator is a key member of the Long Plain Housing team and will work closely with the Long Plain Housing Manager, Tenant Relations Officer and the Long Plain First Nation Housing Portfolio Councilor to coordinate a strategic housing plan, develop a housing workplan and conduct initial capacity assessments. You will be responsible for overall administrative duties, communication management as well as event logistics.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Lead the implementation of the Manitoba Indigenous Housing Capacity Enhancement and Mobilization Initiative, through community engagement and phased approach process for Long Plain First Nation.
- Represent Long Plain First Nation as a member of the Manitoba Indigenous Housing Capacity Enhancement and Mobilization Initiative (MIHCEMI) working group and participate in the development of a Terms of Reference (TOR), vision, mission and goals based on consultation of frontline housing personnel.
- Facilitate housing engagement workshops.
- Engage community members to develop and implement a Community Housing Workplan that will assess and prioritize Long Plain First Nation community housing needs.
- Work within the existing community governance to review and develop community Housing Governance that is effective and responsive to the needs of the community.
- Provides recommendations to develop/improve policies/ procedures and practices at a community level.
- Provides recommendations to implement and develop/improve safety policies, procedures and practices.
- Coordinate with proper personnel on enquiries concerning requirements of the professional, technical aspects of housing such as Building Code and applicable laws affecting construction.
- Attend meetings as requested.
- Other duties as assigned and/or outlined in the job description.

**Qualifications**
- Must obtain or willing to obtain a National Health Safety Administration certificate.
- Grade 12 Diploma or GED.
- Strong knowledge of Sage ACCPAC, Word, Excel, Outlook.
- Understanding of the Long Plain Cultural Traditions and practices.
- Strong organizational skills, problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
- Strong organizational skills in workshops facilitation.
- Ability to perform public speaking/chair and set up meeting with agenda.
- Ability to work independently with little supervision and build effective relationships.
- Sounds judgement, analytical and decision-making skills.
- Must have proven ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Knowledge of Indigenous culture, traditions and fluent in a First Nations language would be an asset.
- Ability to function effectively as a team member.
- Work flexible hours.

**Conditions of Employment**
- Valid Manitoba Class 5 Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle.

**Salary**: Up to $41,288.00 per year
