The District of Kent, located in the picturesque Eastern Fraser Valley, is offering an exciting leadership opportunity in our Senior Management Team

We are searching for a solutions-oriented Director to lead our Recreation/Culture & Projects Department.

Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer you will provide leadership and expertise in managing the Recreation & Culture Department and the provision of regional recreational services.

The Community Recreation and Cultural Centre (CRCC) is being transitioned to the Lets'emot Regional Recreation and Aquatic Centre (LRRAC), with the current construction of an adjoining 27,000 sq ft, 8-lane indoor pool scheduled to open in the fall of 2026.

You will oversee the implementation of business planning that meets community needs by determining priorities and planning appropriate resources and service levels to meet departmental operational goals. You will also provide input on a variety of projects (including capital projects), providing policy, recommendations, developing capital plans, budgets, and writing technical reports for presentation.

We are looking for an energetic and results-focused individual who has a strong understanding of the technical nature of the work, keen critical thinking abilities, and proven analytical and problem-solving skills. You understand local government objectives and issues and are proactive and forward thinking.

**Position Qualifications**:

- A Degree or Diploma in Recreation Administration, Public Administration, Project Management, or related discipline. An equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered.
- Seven to ten years of progressive senior experience in a municipal or regional government setting, with at least five years of experience in a senior management capacity.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including technical writing, facilitating meetings, leading presentations, and the ability to influence and promote teamwork and relationships with a broad range of stakeholders.
- High degree of computer literacy in a Windows based environment with in-depth working knowledge of the current Microsoft Office Suite.
- A high degree of integrity, efficiency, diplomacy, and confidentiality; and
- Strong management and leadership skills.

This exempt position offers a competitive salary (ranging from $125,000 - $145,000) contingent on the applicant’s qualifications and progressive experience, supplemented by a comprehensive benefits package (including participation in the Municipal Pension Plan).
