**PURPOSE**:
The Services Assistant is responsible for providing a welcoming and supportive environment that is conducive to the learning and service needs of the members of our community.
**ACCOUNTABILITIES**:
1. Provides direct public services, including readers’ advisory, to increase community use of the Library.
2. Promotes branch services through displays and promotional materials to increase community use of the Library’s collections and programs
3. In partnership with the Technician, promotes and participates in programs and partnerships including but not limited to, book clubs, home service, outreach activities, reading support, and tours of the Library to meet the needs of the community.
4. Assists in collection maintenance to ensure the collection meets the needs of the community.
5. Assists with the implementation of initiatives as required.
6. Performs opening and closing duties as required.
7. Orders, records and maintains supplies to ensure an efficient use of the Library resources.
8. Provides clerical functions, as required, to meet the needs of the branch.
9. Assists with volunteers, co-workers and partners to optimize community impact.
10. Assists in maintaining the library website as the portal to library services, collections, and programs.
11. Demonstrates a good working knowledge of the full range of collections, programs, and services offered by the library.
12. Provides assistance to library patrons in a manner that is warm, welcoming and respectful.
13. Staffs community outreach activities.
