The **Vendor Managed Inventory Specialist **is responsible for selling, implementing, maintaining, managing and replenishing the inventory at our customers locations in assigned territories, by way of joint calls with Account Managers or independent sales calls. It is an extended service role requiring collaborative relationship with our customer buyers and our internal teams. These duties include, but are not limited to: inventory review, evaluation of demand forecasting, assess inventory controls.
The Vendor Managed Inventory Specialist will become familiar with our customer’s organization, product needs, processes and procedures. They will analyze historic sales data and gain knowledge of customer busy seasons and slow seasons to forecast daily inventory needs. Accurate forecasting of future sales data will be reported to supply partners to ensure product availability for upcoming orders. Communication is a key aspect of the daily work flow, the VMI Specialist is expected to report all potential inventory issues as they arise to the Vendor Managed Inventory Supervisor.
**Responsibilities & Duties**:
- Responsible for stocking product at multiple locations and ensuring quantities remain within the minimum and maximum level set for each item.
- Reviews demand and makes recommendations to Manager, VMI and with approval to the customer
- Establish and maintain positive and effective relationships with key customer contacts, particularly warehouse functions including, quality assurance, distribution shipping/receiving departments, and buyers/merchandisers
- Work with customers and our internal procurement team to develop, maintain and adjust min/max levels of each product accordingly while working with supplier lead times and minimum order requirements to minimize the amount of product needing to be stocked on hand within internal warehouses.
- Maintain strong communication with our internal procurement team, and the customers we serve
- Timely and accurate fulfillment of daily replenishment orders for customers
- Liaise with internal teams and customers to communicate changes, shortages, and concerns;
- New product development outside and within VMI’s
- Utilize available data, reports, and other resources to remain knowledgeable on our customers inventory Management system
- Ensure product delivering to customers matches with stock being put away and wit packing slips.
- Report on daily Vendor Managed Inventory performance metrics
- Effectively handle the day-to-day challenges that are presented in the industry
- Additional duties as required in regards to the vendor managed inventory
