**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES** - Oversee the processing of Semi-Monthly salaried & Hourly Payrolls in accordance with established legislation and practices - Evaluate, recommend, develop and implement payroll policies and procedures. - Review payroll and deliver recommendations for improving payroll processes. - Administers all payroll functions for compliance and ensures accurate and timely master data and payroll processing. - Handles all Time & Attendance, Time away from work (TAFW) and ensuring accuracy in data for vacation accruals, sick days and other time off policies - Identifies procedures and processing opportunities, maintains an on-going review of systems and recommends and implements changes and automation as appropriate - Administers the Group Insurance benefits monthly premiums and works with the Company broker for adjustments to employee premiums, taxable benefits and annual renewals - Administers the hourly Pharmacy Assistant, driver, HHC, compounding, pharmacy Tech, front shop, central fill, photo, Seating and mobility, giftware and service weekly work schedules - Processing of monthly GL reconciliations of various accounts, WSIB, EHT, CRA tax remittances etc. - Processes all Payroll remittances & reconciliations for regular and off-cycle payroll runs as necessary - Act as the payroll Liaison with applicable Government agencies and supports any internal & external audits including CRA & WCB - Reconcile, balance and remit to CRA, Ministry of Revenue, and WSIB/WCB as required by federal and provincial regulations - Reconcile Payroll GL clearing accounts and intercompany accounts - Perform Quarterly/Year-End balancing for all applicable accounts and other payroll tax accounts including troubleshooting any variances - Processes all year end balancing & filings including CRA, WCB, T4’s, T2200’s, etc. - Provide Payroll GL Details, accurate reporting and reconciliation details as required by Finance - Processes and monitors processes, file maintenance to ensure compliance with legislative and internal guidelines. - Works with external and internal auditors and payroll tax authorities on information relating to internal processes, controls and tax remittances - Maintain Audit and Internal controls to ensure effectiveness and efficiency of all payroll related processes.. - Oversee the security controls on user access to Payroll software **Size and Scope**: - # of employees in organization: >200 **Contacts**: **Internal contacts**: - Finance - as above - HR- offers, benefits, RRSP’s, fixed and variable pay programs - Principal Owners - special payments, retention bonuses **External contacts**: - Government Agencies - Meet reporting requirements and ensure compliance with legislation regulatory bodies. Respond to inquires from government agencies and represent the business as needed. - Greenshields - Insurance contract administration, Disability claims and payments - Pay Works - deals with Pay works contact - External Auditors **THE IDEAL CANDIDATE** - Possesses a post - secondary education in a technical field, business or related diploma program. - Strong technical background and should possess at least 3-4 years’ payroll experience in a small to mid - size organization - Payroll association certification is an asset - Strong financial acumen, problem solving and analytical skills - Payroll integration experience with respect to mergers and acquisitions. - Previous experience using Pay Works and other systems such as Ceridian Dayforce is also an asset - Experience with the preparation of account reconciliations, monthly and quarterly variances - Experience working closely with Managers and HR Representatives regarding general pay issues, benefit and pension reporting and payments. - Strong interpersonal skills with a customer focus - Prior system conversion experience, a plus **Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent Pay: $60,000.00-$65,000.00 per year **Benefits**: - Dental care - On-site parking - Paid time off - Store discount - Vision care Flexible language requirement: - French not required Schedule: - Monday to Friday Work Location: In person
