**Position purpose**:
Reporting to the Liaison Manager - Canadian Market, acts as a marketing officer to promote the University of Ottawa (especially its undergraduate programs) throughout Canada so that the University can achieve its recruitment objectives with respect to the number and types of new students. Helps develop the University’s recruitment plan and maintains close relationships with high school and CEGEP guidance counsellors, faculty communication officers, the Admissions Office, and the Marketing Service and Communications Office. Develops and organizes events in response to the needs of their market. Ensures that publications distributed to students are suitable and that they meet the students’ needs.
**In this role, your responsibilities will include**:
Plan, organize, and coordinate travel and visits to promote the University of Ottawa, its undergraduate programs and the benefits of studying at the University of Ottawa through visits to educational institutions, fairs and school events, as well as through virtual presentations via teleconference.
Based on recruitment objectives, develop, prepare, and deliver dynamic presentations to high school and CEGEP students and prospective students to stimulate their interest in attending the University of Ottawa for post-secondary education.
Represent the University and act as a consultant in the schools to students, parents and guidance counsellors on academic programs, the admissions process, the scholarship and financial aid program and other services.
Through his/her knowledge of the 16-22 year old community, with the collaboration of the Communications Officer and the Head of External Recruitment, coordinate the preparation, publication and mailing of recruitment tools (flyers, newsletters, guide for guidance counsellors, promotional posters and other documents related to the clientele in his/her market).
Develop and maintain an excellent knowledge of the undergraduate admissions process by working closely with the Admissions Office.
Utilize data analysis software to evaluate previous years of our priority markets, regarding the source and characteristics of students and the overall goals of the University. With the support of the Manager, establishe a recruitment strategy.
**What you will bring**:
University degree in marketing, communications or public relations, or an equivalent combination of studies and experience
Valid driving permit required, and must be aged 21 or older for car rental purposes
Skills in public relations and interpersonal communication, experience in giving English
- and French-language presentations in public, and the ability to design presentations for various audiences
Knowledge of Canadian secondary and post-secondary school systems, of the 16-22 year-old demographic and the job market. Excellent understanding of the needs of this clientele and the environment that is served
Knowledge of the University of Ottawa, its programs, services and admission requirements
Public relations or liaison experience in maintaining effective relationships with high schools, colleges and other sectors of the University would be an asset
Customer service experience as a resource person
**Organisational skills**: experience in project management and the capacity to conceive, organize, and coordinate public events and to work on multiple events at the same time within tight deadlines
Experience in developing promotional material (e.g., publications, pamphlets, and promotional items)
