Holloway Paving is a Calgary based company seeking to hire an **experienced** asphalt paver operator.

**Summary**

As an Asphalt Paver Operator, you will be essential in the construction and paving of roads and surfaces, operating the paver and laying asphalt with precision. Reporting to the Site Supervisor or Foreman, you will utilize your core skills to spread and level hot mix paving material on driveways, parking lots, pathways and roadways ensuring high-quality paving work. Your mechanical knowledge will enhance your ability to troubleshoot equipment issues, while relevant communication and technical skills will contribute to project efficiency. A valid Class 5 Licence is required for this role.

**Responsibilities**
- Operate heavy asphalt paving equipment to lay asphalt on roadways and other surfaces.
- Prepare and clean the work area, ensuring proper surface conditions for paving.
- Align paving machine into position when receiving asphalt by dump truck; maintain a constant flow of asphalt into the hopper; ease paver forward, safely pushing the dump truck along the construction surface.
- Observe the distribution of paving material along the screed and control direction of the screed to eliminate voids at curbs and joints.
- Monitor temperature of asphalt flowing into the hopper.
- Operate the paver controls to lower the screed auger, control the hopper and navigate the direction of the paver.
- Train new employees in the safe and effecient operation of the paver.
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections on paving machinery to ensure optimal performance.
- Adhere to safety regulations and guidelines while operating equipment and working on-site.
- Maintain a valid Class 5 Licence for commercial driving of heavy equipment.
- Promote and adhere to Holloway Paving's Safety Management System.
- On site preparation days, operate other heavy equipment or perform labouring tasks if required.

The successful applicant must have:

- Knowledge and **experience** of asphalt paver operations and paving equipment.
- Knowledge of asphalt construction materials, construction processes and industry requirements.
- Understanding of computerized controls and electronics
- 3+ years experience within the construction industry
- **2+ years experience operating a Paver**:

- a valid Class 5 Driver's License
- their own transportation to meet at the yard or drive to a site
- CSA Steel Toed boots
- physical stamina, preparedness for hot outdoor temperatures
- the ability to work well as a team
- adherence to our health and safety policy
- Construction Safety Training Certificates are an asset: First Aid & CPR Level C, CSTS, WHMIS, Ground Disturbance

Hourly rate will be determined by your level of experience.
