Job DescriptionYWCA Metro Vancouver’s Tech Connect is a new program that will deliver employment services to Racialized Newcomer Women searching for work in the information technology (IT) Tech Sector Tech sector. Tech Connect includes the following components: conducting an effective job search in Canada, recruiting employer contacts from the tech sector to participate in the program as guest speakers, mentors, information contacts, and referral sources, and hosting alumni engagement activities.
Reporting to the Tech Connect manager, the coordinator will support the program manager with results' operations, management, and reporting. This position will supervise employees and work closely with the team. The Program Coordinator will also assist in recruiting interested guest speakers, clients, and employers.
**What you’ll be doing**:
**Program coordination**:
- Support with day-to-day operations of the program
- Assist the Manager in monitoring the program hiring, scheduling and supervising staff, as well as volunteers
- Support Manager with overseeing data input and its accuracy, as well as ongoing program design, development, and evaluation
- Provide direct support to clients: job search and career coaching - assist clients in identifying and achieving employment goals, setting realistic career plans, and following up on action plans.
- Maintain accurate participant records and confidentiality
- Work with Manager to ensure program success and accountability
- Act as backup liaison with community and external stakeholders
- Assist participants in researching and securing work experience placements in the Tech industry, as required
- Assist participants in researching and registering for job fairs in the BC Tech sector
- Support Career Advisors in the timely submission of client results, employer engagement and mentorship activities to keep program metrics up to date
- Liaises with Career Advisors to collaboratively build and strengthen best practices in the online delivery and development of a hybrid program training model
- Attend weekly Case Conferencing with program staff to discuss client and employer issues and placement opportunities
- Proven ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, demonstrating tact, patience, and cultural sensitivity with clients
- Ensure conformance to CARF Accreditation standards, Occupational Health and Safety, and Human Resource standards
- Adhere to onsite Health and Safety Procedures
- Special project contribution and other duties, as requires
**What you’ll need**:
- Minimum of 2 years in a program lead/coordination role
- 2-3 years of combined experience in Career Counselling and job development; CCDP an asset
- Knowledge of the Tech Sector industry and the ability to provide solutions to address employment gaps in the sector
- Proven experience to work independently and as part of a team to deliver exemplary service
- Experience working with racialized self-identifed newcomer women tech job seekers is essential
- The minimum educational requirements desired are either a bachelor’s degree in a related field (education, counselling, social work) or a combination of a community college diploma in life skills, counselling, or career counselling.
- Excellent technology and digital skills (all Microsoft Suite Applications, Zoom) and online platform
- Experience delivering programming on online learning management systems is desired.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, second language considered an asset
- Demonstrated ability to lead self-identified women in their career transition journey, motivate self-identified women to embrace change, and think creatively about work search strategies
- Access to reliable transportation and ability to travel throughout Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley, the ability to work in person during office hours at the YWCA program location; willingness to work at and commute to other YWCA locations in Metro Vancouver on various occasions
- Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends and work remotely if required
- Must be able to work in person during office hours at the YWCA program location
- A demonstrated positive attitude towards change and a “can-do” attitude
- A criminal record check will be required
- The YWCA Metro Vancouver’s COVID-19 vaccination policy is currently suspended, so vaccination for COVID-19 is not required. However, should circumstances change, and the YWCA deem it necessary to reintroduce such a policy, you may be required to provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19 to be eligible to continue performing your duties. (Always include both on all job postings under required skills for YWCA positions)
