**Summary**:
Reporting to the Operations Controller, the **Assistant Controller - Operations** will help lead the overall operations accounting and reporting requirements within the organization. This new position for the Finance and Accounting department is an exciting opportunity to work with a company and team who are constantly seeking out ways to leverage technology to improve processes to deliver value-added information and analysis to leaders across the business. This role is well suited to someone that enjoys a fast-paced team environment where tackling the challenges of a rapidly growing company are embraced with enthusiasm. The position is based in the Calgary corporate office with a hybrid remote work option.

**Schedule**:

- This position holds normal business hours, with little to no travel expected
- We support a hybrid work environment consisting of flexible remote work and some in-person collaboration at our Calgary and Houston offices

**Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Closely collaborate with all members of the finance group responsible for financial reporting, operational reporting, general ledger maintenance, invoicing, accounts payable, accounts received and collections
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad-hoc reports and internal reporting packages
- Responsible for revenue recognition and project margin analysis
- Monitor daily invoicing and drive efficiencies by obtaining an in-depth understanding of contract billing practices, procedures and automated invoicing system processes
- Play an active and hands-on role in the financial and month end close cycle
- Manage and maintain the accounting records of the organization to facilitate the timely preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual business results
- Design and develop operational-level reporting to keep senior management up to date regarding key business trends and variances to forecast
- Play an active role in the quarterly and annual budgeting and forecasting process
- Evaluate and maintain accounting policies and procedures
- Responsible for the overall integrity of the balance sheet
- Ensure proper controls are in place to accommodate best in class internal controls
- Develop and implement systems and processes to drive efficiencies and automation
- Build effective partnerships with individuals throughout the organization that will aid in the advancement of the overall business platform
- Respond to ad hoc requests and other duties as required

**Requirements**:

- Bachelor of Commerce Degree with a Professional accountancy program (CPA)
- 5+ years of relevant financial accounting, reporting and management experience
- Knowledge and experience with public company reporting requirements and C-SOX controls
- System savvy - Oracle NetSuite experience an asset
- Demonstrated leadership skills with a strategic mindset and ability to be a hands-on leader
- Data analytics a significant asset, with strong MS365 suite skills
- Highly service-oriented with outstanding communication, organization, and a critical thinker
- Detail oriented and takes initiative, and is adaptable and comfortable working independently
- Excellent interpersonal skills; a team player who can act as both a leader and an individual contributor as required
