You will be working with our physician & medical office administrator to help assist in our family clinic operation. Under close and ongoing supervision, you will receive training from physicians and staff to perform clinical, admin and/or IT-management tasks.
Successful applicants will have the opportunity to contribute to the care of patients in a family medicine practice but also gain important skills in communication, teamwork and leadership while working with other physicians & medical staff members.
Volunteers will gain practical experience by:
1) Perform clinical duties including: taking vital signs, meeting/greeting patients
2) Administrative Tasks including: patient education, booking and confirming appointments, and improving clinical care of patients through health-care prevention projects
3) Utilize electronic medical records (EMR) to fax/scan items, inputting patient information, preparing diagnostic tests, designing and coding customized forms, and implementing software features
4) Involved in preventative health-care projects to education patients on health-care screening including vaccines and cancer screening
45 Technical support for clinic hardware, clinic optimization, general business operation flow, IT support, and streamlined patient experiences.
Language Requirements:
1) English
2) *Mandarin (Not mandatory but will be an asset for future opportunities since most of our patients speak Mandarin)
Other Requirements
1) Minimum Education Level: Attending/Completed Post-Secondary
3) It takes time to learn and master the different skills taught at our clinic and so we ask for a minimum of 4-6 hours /week
