We are currently seeking a Head of Finance to lead our Finance team. Responsibilities include financial management of the Association, with specific responsibilities for reporting on financial statements, ensuring proper internal controls and audit, and budgets. This portfolio is responsible for management of financial risks and financial stability of the Association, safeguarding of corporate assets and investments, supervision of day-to-day financial activities.**Responsibilities**:
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Participate in key decisions as a member of the senior management team
- Oversee the reporting of financial information
- Report financial results to the Board of Directors and Finance/Audit Committee
- Review audit plan and ensure proper audit process
- Review and approve tax returns filed with CRA
- Manage the accounting, investment, and tax related functions
- Manage third parties to which functions have been outsourced (investments, ACCPAC consultant, payroll, etc.).
- Oversee the company's transaction processing systems and internal controls.
- Implement operational best practices for financial transactions, fixed assets and investments management.
- Manage the capital, designated reserve funds and operating fund requests.
- Manage the budgeting process.
- Interact with other managers to provide support on planning initiatives using financial and management information analyses, reports, and recommendations.
- Management of financial risks and financial stability of the Association.
- Safeguarding of corporate assets and investments
- Supervision of day-to-day financial activities

Qualifications and Skills:
- Chartered Professional Accountant, with related experience in financial management and strategic leadership of an organization, preferably in the not-for-profit sector
- 5-7 years of work experience in a senior role in the financial management of an organization, and financial stewardship, strategic /business leadership with direct responsibility and oversight of financial operations
- Proficiency in ACCPAC with good understanding of ACCPAC Financial Reporter or other G/L data retrieval program plus Bank Services, EFT, AR, AP and Order Entry sub ledger relationships
- Proficiency in Sage CRM, Crystal reports, Access, Advanced Excel, MS PowerPoint
- Proven leadership skills with an ability to motivate a team
- Excellent communication skills with an ability to communicate complex financial matters in plain language
- Excellent interpersonal skills, critical thinking skills and proven ability to balance competing demands in a dynamic environment
- Project management skills with a demonstrated ability to deliver results
- Collaboration, articulation, commitment to excellence
- High standards for accuracy, responsiveness, integrity and discretion
- Exceptional writing and presentation skills
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends and sometimes on very short notice
