The Manager, Student Wellness and Counselling Services provides strategic leadership and vision to the ongoing development and delivery of contemporary student mental health supports & programming and student counselling services to ensure they respond to the diversity of our student population, their lived experiences, and their academic journey. The Manager provides leadership in the areas of service delivery excellence, program development and evaluation, people development, continuous improvement, relationship management, and clinical supervision. The Manager is a key member of the Student Affairs leadership team & the Division of Students, multi-disciplinary teams committed and accountable to advancing a seamless student experience through a coordinated and holistic student support model. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring wellness is threaded through all services, programs and how our practitioners serve our students. Pan-institutionally, the Manager is a champion for the advancement of the Campus student wellness strategy, at Sheridan, is a collaborator, and serves as a expert resource to senior management and our academic colleagues.

What You’ll be Doing

Leading the strategic planning, development, and implementation of mental health programs, counselling services and initiatives including program evaluation, program improvement and quality service with alignment to the strategic direction of Student Affairs, SEEM & Sheridan;
Managing day-to-day operations of Student Wellness and Counselling Services at all campuses;
Providing leadership in the areas of service delivery excellence, program development, continuous improvement, relationship management, clinical supervision, reporting, and compliance;
**Managing the unit human and financial resources including**: recruitment, providing leadership, inspiration and motivation, providing orientation, training and development opportunities, determining performance standards, providing ongoing coaching and mentoring, and handling a broad range of employee relations matters including grievances;
Developing and reviewing unit budget including costing activities, monitoring variances, approving expenditures and managing grant funds.

Representing Student Affairs as a whole and develops a deep understanding of what Student Affairs work is, the purpose of the work, and how our supports impact the student experience;
**Working together with Student Affairs leadership to**: ensure wellness is embedded across all service areas, develop a coordinated student support model, and deliver a stepped care approach to service;
Providing leadership or guidance/consultation on the delivery of institutional strategic initiatives that have broad impact across the organization (i.e. championing Sheridan's Campus Wellness Strategy);
Educating and providing valuable insight to senior leadership and stakeholders on emerging trends and anticipated future needs of students to influence strategic decision-making;
Preforming other relevant duties, as assigned.

Your crisis intervention skills allow you to very effectively manage crisis related situations.

You have the ability to drive and manage change and implement progressive, improvement initiatives.

You have solid knowledge of, and commitment to, the highest standards of organizational policies, legislative regulations and ethical practices.

Master’s degree in Clinical or Applied Psychology, Counselling, Social Work or other relevant health related discipline

7 years of leadership experience in a student, community or service focussed role ensuring high standards of support, preferably in a post-secondary setting (equivalency to be considered)

Understanding of post-secondary student life cycle (direct experience preferred)

Experience with program design and implementation of wellness and service initiatives

Knowledge of relevant regulations (e.g. PHIPA-Personal Health Information Protection Act)
