**GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES**

Responsible for the daily food and beverage operations of the main kitchen, bar, quick-service, and Booster Juice concepts, along with security requirements for our facilities and events. Ensures that catered events, scheduling, training, cash, and inventory management are fulfilled effectively with the Director, Hospitality Services. Also works closely with the Events, Marketing, and Promotional teams to execute to a high standard. Develops menus and features regularly with the Director, Hospitality Services and works with vendors to ensure consistent evolution of our food services. Oversees hiring, training, scheduling, and development of approximately 35-40 student employees and supervisors.

**ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE**

The Food & Beverage Manager reports to the Director, Hospitality Services. Leads and manages a team of Supervisors with part-time student staff.

**SCOPE AND NATURE**

The SSUI is comprised of elected representatives for all full-time and day part-time fee-paying students at Sheridan College. The SSUI is responsible for safeguarding and promoting the welfare and interest of the membership of the Student Body of Sheridan, whether academic, intellectual, cultural, social, athletic, or otherwise in accordance with individual needs.

SSUI is a recognized college committee comprised of SSUI student Directors, SSUI employees, and the Dean of Student Services. The Corporation approves funding allocations for the Student Activity Fee and is responsible for developing organizational policies and procedures.

It is the goal of the Sheridan Student Union employees to make the center a pleasant, professional stress-free location for the student to come and get information. The Food & Beverage Manager must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills to ensure a high level of satisfaction among all customers, employees, and all other groups and clients.

**SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES**

The functions of the Food & Beverage Manager cover a wide variety of responsibilities in the daily operations of the SSU facilities and may be modified from time to time by the SSU Board, Managing Director, and Director, Hospitality Services. It is important to note that not all functions and duties are contained within this definition, and the position itself should be ever-changing and adaptive. Nevertheless, specific roles and responsibilities allocated to this position include, but are not limited to the following:

- Supervision of all operations staff to ensure quality and efficiency (cooks, bar staff, service staff, and supervisors)
- Maintain desired inventory levels for all service areas in conjunction with the Director, Hospitality Services
- Accountable for all beverage inventories; responsible for the weekly completion of the inventory and ensuring its accuracy
- Coordinate planning, budgeting, and scheduling to ensure that all operational requirements are met with coordination from the Director, Hospitality Services
- Responsible for ordering, receiving, storing, and maintaining proper stock levels
- Maintain all labour costs in the area, manage waste, and drive profitability
- Provide direction, leadership, motivation, coaching, and counseling to all staff
- Development of new menu items in conjunction with Director, Hospitality Services on an ongoing basis
- Recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluating employees appropriately
- Support market research and promotion of the operation by working closely with the Operations, Events, and Marketing Teams
- Manage and discipline employees in regard to violations of policies and procedures
- Balance cash tills and deposits at the start and end of each shift
- Maintain a positive public relations and rapport with customers and staff alike
- Develop, establish, and maintain effective catering operations in conjunction with Food Services Manager
- Oversee all food and beverage operations at all SSU food service outlets
- Maintain all required food service and sanitation certifications (food safe, SmartServe, Crisis Intervention, etc.)
- Must be knowledgeable of all provincial requirements and standards regarding Workplace Health and Safety and Workplace Hazardous Materials Information Systems (WHMIS)
- Must have a strong grasp of all AGCO regulations and attend seminars as directed
