Specialized Services Coordinator

**Position Summary**:
Reporting to the Demonstration Project Manager, the Specialized Services Coordinator is responsible for the overall coordination of the Specialized Services Program under the STC Well Being Child and Family Services. The Specialized Services Program provides access to services (Mental Health Therapy, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, etc) to children and youth in STC First Nation communities and is funded through Jordan’s Principle.
The Specialized Service Coordinator will work with; our partners, the First Nation communities of the Saskatoon Tribal Council and service providers to develop and implement the coordination of _Specialized Services_ objectives. The Specialized Service Coordinator will also expand education and awareness associated with Specialized Services Program available to the STC community members ultimately leading to a reduction of time in accessing assessments and provision of identified services for the clients.
**Responsibilities**:
- Support community engagement and development, by working extensively with STC community members to improve awareness of services and processes to access Specialized Services Programs.
- Facilitate and assist communities to identify community assets and resources that may support community members to access Specialized Services for identified children and youth.
- Actively engage in planning and development at the First Nations community level to improve the expediency of child/youth assessments and services.
- Connects with Specializes Service Providers to develop service contracts for therapeutic services as identified by each community.
- Schedules monthly caseload review and supervision with Specialized Service Providers
- Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of programs & services and makes recommendations for improvements.
- Tracks monthly budget spending on services for each community and develops spending plans to meet identified support by communities.
- Develops relationships with communities and shares relevant and appropriate information through reports and updates on Specialized Services.
- The coordinator will lead the development and implementation of processes and best practices within the scope of the program.
- Refer clinical issues to appropriate clinical supports for assistance.
- Participate in STC’s Accreditation process to maintain best practices and support quality improvement initiatives.
- Utilize appropriate communication methods for interacting sensitively, effectively, and professionally with persons from diverse cultural, ethnic, socioeconomic, and educational backgrounds of all ages and lifestyles.
- Establish and maintain professional linkages with key stakeholders.
- Utilize leadership, team building, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills to build community partnerships and relationships with providers.
- Maintains regular communication with staff and providers to monitor progress. Advocates for and promotes well-being for each person in need of assessment(s).
- Communicates concerns with service providers as needed to the Demonstration Project Manager.
- Communicates regularly with STC staff in various programs and services to facilitate access to resources.
- Ensures practices are in accordance with applicable legislation and policies related to Health Information Protection Act.
- Perform other related duties as defined and assigned by the Demonstration Project Manager or designate on a required basis.
**Education and Experience**:
- Post-secondary degree with minimum three (3) years relevant coordinating experience.
- Knowledge of contract development, program/service planning, implementation and evaluation;
- Experience completing Jordan’s Principle reporting is an asset.
- Experience working with specialized service providers is an asset.
- Experience in statistical data collection
**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**:
- Must possess strong organizational and planning skills.
- Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision, as well as in a collaborative team environment.
- Knowledge of the Jordan’s Principle Program.
- Demonstrates proven skills in being assertive, persuasive and as an influencer of change.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Experience working within a governance structure in a community development capacity with First Nations familiarity with First Nations culture, history is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of First Nations and Métis culture and the ability to speak an Indigenous language will be a definite asset.
- Analytical, decision making and the ability to recognize challenges, identify causes and provide solutions.
**Other Conditions**:
- Must possess a valid Saskatchewan driver’s license and meet STC’s insurance requirements;
