**Your Opportunity**

Stantec is currently seeking an Indigenous Relations Advisor who is a team player with strong communication skills and interpersonal abilities and is interested in taking their career to the next level. The opportunity is to lead the successful delivery of projects at all phases (planning, design, tendering, construction, maintenance) with the Indigenous Relations team. **Your Key Responsibilities**
- Working with key government clients:

- Provide Indigenous Relations Advisory support to the Indigenous Relations team on varying sized projects throughout British Columbia.
- Implement and maintain records of consultation and engagement activities with various Indigenous communities.
- Identify activities where Indigenous engagement and consultation should occur and provide advice on consultation activities for highway projects.
- Identify opportunities for potential partnerships between the client and Indigenous community.
- Draft written documents such as consultation letters, contracts, funding agreements, briefing notes and other types of reports.
- Organize, attend and lead meetings to represent our client to discuss matters related to regulatory processes, consultation and engagement, and community interests.
- Support reconciliation of highway right-of-way through Indian reserve lands by resolving outstanding tenure matters through the Section 35 process.
- Build and maintain relationships with Indigenous communities throughout the information sharing process and provide pertinent project information on the scope and status of projects in their area of interest.
- Travel throughout British Columbia will be required from time to time.

**Qualifications**

**Your Capabilities and Credentials**
- Leadership skills to guide internal and external project teams and Indigenous groups
- Strong understanding and interest in local Indigenous rights, treaties, Section 35 regulatory processes, and the duty to consult.
- Effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills are essential.
- Ability to build trustful relationships.
- Strong computer skills and literacy in scheduling, technical writing, presentation, and other software including MS Power Point, MS Word, and MS Excel
- General understanding of a project lifecycle including design and construction processes and requirements.
- Excellent organizational skills, time management, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to read and understand plans, specifications, and technical documentation is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities and assignments.
- High emotional intelligence with the desire and ability to understand people from diverse backgrounds.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities to generate solutions.
- Must be able to successfully work both collaboratively and independently.

**Education and Experience**
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Indigenous studies, geography, archaeology, anthropology, or related field
- 3 years’ experience in Project Coordination, or other similar role.
- Experience in participating and/or leading the consultation process with Indigenous communities
- Experience in building relationships
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered
