**Camrose Women’s Shelter Society** operates a 22-bed facility offering a safe haven for women who have experienced domestic violence, abuse, or other forms of trauma. The job of a crisis intervention worker requires you to provide life-changing services to the victims of domestic violence and help them build better lives for themselves. This can include helping to secure financial supports, finding suitable housing, developing safety plans, or meeting other goals. Our shelter works from a Trauma Informed Lens. If this resonates with you, please keep reading. **What we are looking for in a Crisis Intervention Worker**: The shelter is a fast-paced environment and requires you to be professional and creative as you facilitate the success of clients and the rest of the shelter team. Your ability to remain non-judgmental and empathetic with clients, and share information appropriately with other departments to facilitate client personal growth are indispensable skills. The shelter encourages you and offers training courses to increase your skill base in applicable areas. Our policies and guidelines are there to help you navigate this challenging environment as you will be meeting someone on their worst day. Dealing with every situation differently and with emotional intelligence is integral to providing the best possible support. **What you will bring to the position and the shelter**: - Previous work experience with clients who are victims of domestic violence, families in crisis, women’s programs, or residential programs are an asset. Knowledge or experience in domestic or family violence and abuse, reasons behind homelessness, addictions, mental illness, Indigenous culture and practice and Trauma Informed Practice. Ability to provide one-on-one interviewing, assessment and support. Current First Aid with CPR, Criminal Record Check, and Children’s Services Intervention Record Check are required to start. Any associated costs are at your expense. Ability to do shift work while maintaining decision-making skills, and conflict management/resolution skills is necessary. - Ability to navigate stairs, sweep/mop/vacuum, change beds, and lift up to 50 pounds is a must_ **Permanent Employee Hours of Work and Benefits** Hours of work: This position involves shift work based on a two-week average of 40 hours per week on a rotational basis, including weekends and overnight awake shifts. - **Morning - 6:00 am to 4:00 pm**_ - **Afternoon: 9:00 am to 7:00 pm**_ - **Evening: 12:00 pm to 10:00 pm**_ - **Night: 9:00 pm to 7:00 am**_ Comprehensive Medical and Dental plan. Confidential Employee Assistance Program. $750/year for psychologist & social worker paramedical services. Annual health care spending account of $700. One complementary meal per shift. The Shelter follows current Alberta Health Services COVID-19 safety protocols and provides appropriate and applicable PPE to all employees. This a Union position under CUPE Local 1425.
