Reporting to the Executive Director, the **Communications Coordinator** actively contributes to building the capacity and strength of the CWSS. Will utilize a wide range of internal and external communication initiatives, maintaining the integrity of the CWSS brand, including public messaging, media releases, newsletters, fundraising events, storytelling, social media content creation, and curation, developing marketing material, as well as organizational material formatting. The Coordinator uses Social Media and other platforms to engage community members, volunteers, and businesses as supporters of the CWSS by participating in donor recruitment and retention practices. The Coordinator supports annual and ongoing CWSS events and fundraising and communications activities to achieve its financial and programming goals—other duties as required.
**Required Qualifications**:
- Diploma or degree in communications/public relations/marketing or related experience
- Experience in not-for-profit fundraising/fund development. A combination of education and professional experience will be considered.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Create Suite
- Social media design and scheduling programs (Canva, Loomly, and similar design-based software)
- Maintain social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn)
- WordPress and website content management
- Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills; ability to meet deadlines
- Strong writing, editing, and graphic design skills with consistent attention to detail
- Experience with traditional print media; preparing print files and coordinating work with the printer
- Comfortable working with people from various backgrounds, experiences, and skill sets
- Proven ability to build community relationships and social engagement
- Applies strong knowledge of communications planning and event planning
- Consistently presents a professional manner. In this way, experience with community engagement is essential to the role.
- Clear Criminal Record Check and Child Welfare Check; current CPR and First Aid certification
This position requires spending significant periods of time working at a computer and talking on the telephone. Some travel to various outlying communities may be required.
The Camrose Women's Shelter Crisis Intervention Workers play a pivotal role in the lives of women and children who are estranged from their families due to domestic violence. The job of a crisis intervention worker requires you to provide life-changing services to the victims of domestic violence and help them build better lives for themselves. Crisis intervention workers are responsible for helping to protect victims of domestic violence by assisting them with various aspects of their lives — such as helping to secure financial support, finding suitable[DG1][e2]housing, etc. Our shelter uses Trauma Informed Practice.
**Job Types**: Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 3 months
Part-time hours: 20 per week
**Salary**: $28.28 per hour
