We are currently seeking a **Retail Food Service Manager** who will have the responsibility for the overall profitability, operation and success of the deli department; including the kitchen, deli cases, juice bar, display units and our lunch line. You will be responsible for providing leadership and a positive work environment for the department's team members and will ensure that departmental standards of excellent customer service, high quality product, proper food safety, and efficient procedures are maintained to achieve financial success
In this position you will report to the Store Operations Manager in our Halifax, NS retail location.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Fulfill responsibilities for managing (planning, organizing, directing, controlling activities and operations) the department.
- Assume responsibility for the financial success of the department by maximizing sales, utilizing correct accounting procedures and efficiently managing all resources.
- Maintain high standards of employee morale and promote an atmosphere of cooperation and teamwork
- Resolve and properly document problems that arise such as customer complaints, product issues, staffing issues, etc.
- Ensure the highest level of cleanliness, sanitation, and organization is maintained in all department areas, refrigeration units, storage areas, and office space.
- Ensure all invoice and store transfer documents are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of duties by following up with all checklists.
- Collaborate with other department leaders and all members of the Pete's Fine Foods team to foster the success of our store and organization as a whole.
- Appropriately balance time in the office and on the retail floor to meet operational and administrative demands.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Three or more years of management experience in a retail and/or food service role
- Culinary experience or training
- Attention to detail
- Strong communication skills
- Strong customer service experience and ability
- The ability to work under pressure and handle challenging situations
- Confidence, drive, energy and enthusiasm
- Computer skills including MSOffice, Excel, and Time and Attendance management software
- Strong Interpersonal & team building skills
- Product Knowledge - Strong interest and knowledge of products and suppliers
- Vendor relationship skills
- Negotiating skills
- Purchasing skills (procurement, supply chain management)
- Entrepreneurial mindedness
- Organizational awareness
