True North As the largest post-secondary institution in northern Alberta, Northwestern Polytechnic is a natural point of convergence for knowledge, skills, creativity, and collaboration. Striving to spark and empower success, NWP’s mission is geared towards both individual and collective progress. NWP offers a wide variety of engaging and in-demand academic programs in certificates, diplomas, apprenticeships, and degrees. We exist wholeheartedly for the domestic and international students who call our campuses home, the distinctive communities and industries we serve, and the staff and faculty who honour us with their expertise and insights every day. While our potential as one of Alberta’s newest polytechnics is ever-growing, we recognize the importance of having authentic and highly effective contributors by our side. We are currently recruiting individuals who are inspired by opportunity, driven by results, and aligned to NWP’s core values of being responsive, innovative, and connected. The Department The Learning Commons is a hub of student, faculty and staff services. Included in this area are traditional library services, the Academic Success Centre for student support in writing, math and other subject areas; Accessibility Services for students, and the Testing Centre for both external clients and future Northwestern Polytechnic students. We are an area that encourages growth, learning and exploration for those who seek our support and of each other. The Role The Accommodated Exam Support Worker is a casual position that will work with the Learning Commons’ Accessibility Services Team to provide exam accommodations to eligible students. The Accommodated Exam Support Worker’s duties will include setting up the exam space to meet the needs of one or more students while maintaining an environment that ensures exam integrity. They will be required to proctor and/or read and/or scribe for the duration of the exam sitting and to ensure prompt delivery of the completed exam to the Accessibility Services Office. The Accommodated Exam Support Worker must adhere to the instructions for each exam provided by Accessibility Services staff and ensure that students understand and comply with them. This position is a temporary casual appointment and will be for up to a maximum hours/week. Weekly hours are not guaranteed and will vary depending on the needs of eligible students. Availability to work a variety of shifts any day—Monday through Friday—between 7 am and 5 pm is required, based on student needs. During Final Exam periods, evening and Saturday availability is also required. What We Offer Northwestern Polytechnic offers lifelong learning opportunities through a competitive salary and a student-centred culture that is vital to our community.
