The ExperientialEducation Coordinatoris responsible forcollaborating with and supporting the Department with experiential education (EE) planning, design, implementation, and evaluation, and for achieving synergies and creating/sharing best practices with peers across campus. TheExperiential EducationCoordinatorwill:Identify, initiate, cultivate, andmaintainrelationships with community partners toprovide appropriate EE opportunities for students within programs; Meet with community partners, both internal and external, todetermineexpectations for EE; Act as an ambassador for Brock, the Faculty of Applied Health Sciences (FAHS) and the Department of Kinesiology at community functions, events and when working with community partners, to build relationships and respond to issuespertaining toEE; Work with peers in FAHS and the University to ensure a cohesive approach to partnership development and management, including streamlined and efficient communication processes; Create andmaintainand/or contribute to a database of EE opportunities at local, national, and international levels;Assistin the development of short and long-term plans for the Department of Kinesiology, related to undergraduate and graduate internships, placements, and all aspects of EE;Consult with faculty members in the Department of Kinesiology about expanding EE in their courses;Communicate with relevant faculty and other EECsregardingpotentialinternal and external funding or resource support opportunities that arise for EE;Ensure that policies, processes, and procedures are followed for student placements and internships (, criminal checks, workplace health and safety,appropriate training, risk management, insurance, etc.);Report on all aspects of EE for the FAHS and the Department of Kinesiology, including summaries and recommendations related to the strategic direction of EE; Participate in University committees related to service-learning and/or EE and Accessibility Committee, including related events.Coordinate the existing programs within the Department of Kinesiology and provide ongoing support and liaison for faculty, staff, TA’s, undergraduatestudentsand graduate studentsrelated to physical activity experiential learning for diverse populations;Support the design, development, evaluation, and administration of internship,experientialand practical courses in the Department of Kinesiology;Support the Marketing of and Communications related to the programs offered by the Department of Kinesiology, FAHS and across the University to deliver messaging about activities and successes;Support recruitment initiatives of the Department of Kinesiology, FAHS, and the University. KeySkills andExperience:A bachelor’s degreein a related field; Relevant professional experience, including work in the field of experiential education,salesand/or relationship managementexperience; Familiarity andpreviouswork experience with the Department ofKinesiology;Experience with the programs offered by the Department of Kinesiologyand FAHS;Knowledge of the theoretical and practical aspects of experiential learning; Excellent communication skillsdemonstratedwith community partners, students,staffand faculty; Knowledge of related internal and external University policies; Practical knowledge of and commitment to community engagement; Solid computer competency including word processing, spreadsheet, database, webapplications and web maintenance, social media,and Brightspace; The ability to develop nuanced messaging,demonstratethe value of EE and ask community partners for support inprovidingEE opportunities;Ability to manage relationships, communicate tactfully and diplomatically and resolve conflicts;Strong administrative, organizational and time management skills;Strong judgment, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess a situation and takeappropriate action; Ability to take initiative in developing new and expanding existing experiential education opportunities and partnerships.
