About the Role:

Reporting to the Manager, International Learning Programs the incumbent plays a key role in advancing the university's internationalization and engagement goals by raising awareness and encouraging participation in Brock's international learning opportunities. The Education Abroad Coordinator serves as the primary point of contact for both outgoing and incoming students and oversees all related communication channels. The incumbent provides comprehensive support to students throughout every phase of their international learning experience, including inquiries about Exchange, Study Abroad, and Double Degree programs, while promoting these opportunities and coordinating with internal stakeholders to ensure a smooth and enriching journey.

The Education Abroad Coordinator will:

  • Serve as the primary contact for current and future outbound and inbound undergraduate and graduate, Exchange, Double Degree and study abroad learners;  
  • Provide pertinent information for all undergraduate and graduate, Exchange, Double Degree and study abroad learners (accommodation, flights, courses, student IT systems, finance, etc.) and responds to partner, internal and learner-driven inquires;
  • Facilitate pre-departure orientations for each cohort of learners during first year; 
  • Administer the nomination and application process with partner schools, Double Degree learners and undergraduate learners; 
  • Administer the track selection process for outbound undergraduate - Double Degree learners including responding to enquiries prior to selection and participating in -recruitment activities;
  • Review transcripts from partner schools and determines transfer credits based on previously approved equivalencies, ensuring all transfer credits are applied to the student record;
  • Facilitate on-arrival orientation for Exchange, Double Degree and Study Abroad learners  and guides learners through the course registration processes prior to arrival;
  • Advise students on the best time and locations for exchange during their academic career;
  • Manage the course approval process for all exchange learners, including corresponding with various departments on course equivalencies, providing and tracking approvals, and working with Academic Advising to ensure GSB learners meet academic requirements; 
  • Facilitate pre-departure and academic orientation for outbound undergraduate learners; 
  • Support the Manager, International Learning Programs, with promoting safety abroad through internal processes, such as the risk management office, as well as with International SOS (ISOS);
  • Support initiatives and liaises with Student Life, Faculty of Graduate Studies, and other campus partners to promote intercultural competencies opportunities dedicated to the development of global-minded graduates;
  • Coordinate and help facilitate intercultural learning and development for all Brock students, in coordination with campus partners such as Student Life, Career Education, Experiential Education and Alumni;
  • Promote the continued student enrollment of the "Global Domain" within the Campus Wide Co-Curriculum (CWC) in partnership with Student Life;
  • Serves as focal point for social media, marketing and on-campus promotion of international programs; 
  • Represents Brock at recruitment events and school visits.   

Key Skills and Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree in a related discipline (e.g, Business Administration) or the equivalent combination of education and experience would be considered;
  • Valid passport required for domestic and international travel;
  • Experiencing administering global mobility and experiential learning programs;
  • Developed understanding of university-level international mobility and exchange programming;
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience managing intercultural learning and engagement;
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Outlook, etc.);
  • Experience with database management software, web-based survey software (e.g. Qualtrics) and other web application software (e.g. Workday);
  • Promotes and embodies inclusivity and respect within the workplace and the broader community; 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships across diverse groups and at a senior level;
  • Excellent written communication skills with proven ability to produce clear, succinct reports and documents for external audience and/or senior leaders; 
  • Ability to professionally handle sensitive and confidential information;
  • Ability to compile, analyze, and interpret data from a variety of sources;
  • Ability to independently design, implement, manage and execute multiple projects simultaneously;
  • Ability to think globally and apply experiences in a creative and strategic manner;
  • Maintain highest level of accuracy and alertness for decisions made, information given, materials processed, particularly under strict deadlines. 

Preferred or Asset Skills:

  • Understanding of University's policies and procedures requirements;
  • Previous experience in global mobility, exchange and experiential learning; 
  • Demonstrated intercultural communications and effectiveness competence developed through prior experience; 
  • Demonstrated experience in a public sector or educational environment.

Salary and Total Rewards:

  • Job Grade J, Salary Scale ($56,506-$91,627);
  • Target Hiring Range: $56,506-$57,000*
  • This is a fixed-term contract that includes:  
  • Health & Dental Benefits: Comprehensive extended health, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Pension Plan: Enrollment eligibility in the Brock University Pension Plan.
  • Vacation: Up to 3 weeks per year, in addition to university holidays.
  • Flexible Work Arrangements: Option of a hybrid work schedule based on operational needs.

*The final salary is based on experience, internal equity, and budget considerations within the target hiring range.
