About Active StartActive Start Childcare is a distinguished early learning institution serving children from 12 months through kindergarten. Carefully designed indoor and outdoor play spaces ensure children remain engaged and active throughout the year, including during Alberta's harshest weather.We maintain strong collaborative partnerships with families to support each child's growth and prepare them for sustained success.About the RolePlease note:This is a term position starting as soon as possible and ending May 2026, with a possibility of extension if the child continues to require services.Age group - Grade 1Shifts will be:3:00 pm - 06:00 pm Monday to Thursday (without a break).12:30 pm - 5:30 pm FridaySchedule for Non-school/PD days Fridays will vary, depending on the school schedule.We are seeking an individual who possesses a strong understanding of child development, exceptional engagement skills, and a dedication to fostering positive relationships with both children and colleagues. The ideal candidate will be dependable, adaptable, fluent in English, and exhibit outstanding communication, multitasking abilities, and experience with children with varied abilities. Prior experience is advantageous, and candidates must possess Alberta Child Care certification levels 1, along with current criminal record check (with vulnerable sector search) and first aid certification.Key ResponsibilitiesProviding one-on-one support for a specific child within the childcare program.Creating and implementing engaging programming tailored to the interests and needs of the child.Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety within the environment.Leading and supporting the child in integrated learning and recreational activities.Actively supervising and engaging with the child while ensuring their well-being.Cultivating positive relationships with the child, their family, and colleagues.Participating in professional development initiatives.Adhering to Alberta Early Learning and Child Care Regulations and Active Start's policies and procedures to ensure quality care.QualificationsMust possess Alberta Child Care certification levels 1Proven experience as an Educator or TeacherPrior experience working with children with disability is a strong assetStrong communication and interpersonal skillsFamiliarity with educational technology and toolsCertification in teaching is a plusWhy Join Active Start?
