Calgary, Canada Little Steps Childcare FSCD Full time

This one on one support educator position requires a qualified Early Childhood Educator with experience in working with children in an inclusive setting and experience with children with varied abilities in NW Calgary. The educator will provide a program and supports for a child’s success in a preschool-age classroom.

This position is under the terms of an FSCD (Family Supports for Children with Disabilities) contract. This is position is roughly 11:30am - 5:00pm Mon - Thurs and 8am - 5:00pm on Fridays.

**Responsibilities and Duties**

The roles and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

- Responsible for the constant supervision, safety, and well-being of the child.
- Assisting with preparing, and implementing stimulating, age-appropriate activities and experiences that encourage child’s creativity and learning, and promote child’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
- Participating fully and consistently as a conscientious team member in caring for the child and the overall operation of the program and centre.
- Maintaining a supportive, safe, and clean classroom environment.
- Ensuring the program operates at all times in compliance with all childcare licensing standards.
- Sharing responsibility for maintaining program equipment in good repair; assisting with toy/equipment disinfecting.
- Ensuring the centre is maintained in a clean, orderly, and safe condition.
- Participating in ongoing professional development and attending/maintaining all mandatory training.
- Performing other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Program Supervisor, and/or Management Team.

**Qualifications**

In order for the employee to be successful in this position, they must possess the following qualifications:

- Proper ECE Certification set by childcare licensing regulations.
- Up to date first aid and CPR certification.
- Valid police clearance including the vulnerable sector check.
- Understanding of childcare licensing regulations.
- Experience in working with children with diverse needs.
- Knowledge of the Reggio Emilia Approach to learning.
- Passion for teaching and guiding young children.
- Optimistic, energetic, with a fun-loving attitude and a strong ability to motivate others.
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of early childhood development, including best practices and related current research.
