Jewish Student Support

Role Overview Make your mark on Jewish student life by joining Hillel BC as the Jewish Student Support & Campus Affairs Lead. In this role, you’ll be the go-to person for student support and campus advocacy across BC campuses. You’ll build strong, trusting relationships with students, stay ahead of campus developments, and help ensure that Jewish students feel safe, supported, and empowered — no matter what campus they are on. You’ll be actively present across multiple campuses, helping connect students to resources, training, and community. You will help students navigate campus life, find their voices, and confidently participate in the spaces that matter — from classroom discussions to student government meetings. You will also help address challenges Jewish students face, including antisemitism, by working alongside them to promote their well-being, inclusion, and leadership development. This is a high-impact role rooted in relationships, education, and action. You’ll play a key part in shaping a more informed, inclusive, and resilient campus environment for Jewish students across British Columbia. Key Responsibilities • Strategically lead antisemitism response and prevention efforts across campuses, positioning Jewish student interests as central to advocacy and institutional partnerships. • Establish and guide coalitions of faculty, staff, and students around issues impacting Jewish students, advancing recommendations to administration that align with student needs. • Provide senior-level advocacy by overseeing incident reporting and developing long-term, forward-looking strategies to support Jewish students and campus inclusivity • Lead engagement with Jewish and non-Jewish student leaders, encouraging their involvement in student governance, campus life, and community organizing to foster a robust campus presence. • Develop high-impact relationships with university administrators, faculty, and other community stakeholders to create collaborative, long-term partnerships focused on student-centered outcomes. • Empower student advocates by guiding their leadership development and equipping them with resources to plan and execute initiatives that strengthen Jewish identity and community on campus. • Proactively monitor and analyze antisemitic incidents and campus climate indicators, providing timely reports and adapting strategies as needed. • Oversee strategic collaborations with Jewish and non-Jewish organizations on initiatives that reinforce a supportive environment for Jewish students. • Collaborate on and support the writing of op-eds, letters, newsletters, action alerts, press releases, social media content, and statements on campus culture and advocacy initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and messaging. • Represent internal partnerships with the international headquarters and other specialized teams, aligning advocacy initiatives with broader strategic goals. • Participate in conversations about student experiences on campus and help brainstorm ways we can offer meaningful support, both practically and emotionally. • Help coordinate events, workshops, or informal gatherings that give students space to reflect, learn, and feel connected to one another and their broader community. • Support efforts to understand and thoughtfully respond to challenges students may face in different campus environments, including experiences of exclusion or unfair treatment. • Support students as they build confidence in advocating for themselves and navigating campus systems, policies, and procedures. What You’ll Bring to the Job You have at least three years of professional work experience and hold a bachelor’s degree, bringing both expertise and formal training to the role. Politically engaged and highly informed, you stay attuned to campus dynamics, student union developments, and issues affecting Jewish students. Proactive by nature, you anticipate challenges, communicate effectively with your team, and step in early to support students where they need it most. You are a confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills, able to build meaningful relationships with students, faculty, administrators, and community partners. In tough moments, you are a trusted presence, bringing clarity, compassion, and purpose whether guiding students or representing the community. As a skilled facilitator, you have experience leading impactful workshops, trainings, and discussions that empower students. Collaborative yet independent, you thrive in team environments, value shared success, and bring fresh ideas, initiative, and self-motivation to your work. What You’ll Receive • Competitive salary range: $60–80k. • Comprehensive health insurance package, including an additional $500 wellness package. • Vacation: 10 days plus 2 weeks paid winter break. • Monthly bus pass or on-campus parking covered. • Professional development, mentoring, and skill-building opportunities. About Hillel BC Joining Hillel BC means becoming part of a dynamic, mission-driven team dedicated to fostering a vibrant and inclusive Jewish community on campus. We are at the forefront of student leadership, engagement and support, providing a home for students to explore their Jewish identity while navigating the challenges of university life. At Hillel BC, you’ll be surrounded by passionate colleagues, have the freedom to innovate, and work in a supportive environment where your voice matters. If you're looking for a career with purpose, impact, and community, Hillel BC is the place for you. Hillel BC is affiliated with Hillel International.
