The People & Culture Generalist manages projects within the People & Culture department. Reporting to the Head of People & Culture, the People & Culture Generalist will contribute to the department across a number of functions, including employee relations, onboarding, training, recruitment, retention, investigations, tracking, monitoring, and reporting.
Responsibilities- Lead collaborations within People & Culture department and across departments on various projects, including implementation of Sprott Shaw’s Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Action Plan.
- Advise senior management, line supervisors, and employees on employment relations.
- Assist staff and managers with conducting investigations.
- Participate in various onboarding, crossboarding, and offboarding procedures.
- Maintain and update documents and databases internally, such as the ERP and SharePoint.
- Respond to internal and external People & Culture related requests and provide assistance.
- Identify areas of improvement within scope of People & Culture and implement change as appropriate.
- Monitor policies and documentation to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with business processes.
- Participate on committees, such as Occupational Health & Safety Committee and/or Accessibility Committee.
- Provide recruiting assistance and candidate screening and assessment as needed, as well as reviewing and implementing new recruitment strategies.
- Provide effective feedback and communication to candidates/staff throughout the People & Culture processes, such as recruitment, onboarding, offboarding, or investigations.
- Organize employee training initiatives to promote skills improvement.
- Degree or diploma in Human Resources or Organization Development.
- CHRP or equivalent.
- Minimum two (2) years supervisory or management experience.
- Minimum three (3) years of related experience in Human Resources.
- Knowledge of Employment Standard Act and employment equity regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and/or database systems).
- Experience with project management.
- Demonstrated ability to manage conflicts.
- Strong time management skills.
- Problem-solving skills.
- Good knowledge of data analysis including identifying appropriate data, compiling and reporting of results, implications, and recommendations.
- Ability to act with tact, good judgment, and discretion, maintaining confidentiality of files, personal information, and other matters, as appropriate.

- Good organizational skills with demonstrated ability to multi-task.
