Clinical Regional Coordinator, Oncology

We currently have a temporary full time opportunity for a Clinical Regional Coordinator, Oncology. This is a temporary position anticipated to extend to September 2026.
How Clinical Regional Coordinator, Oncology support our teams at Grand River Hospital:
- Projects and initiatives: To collaboratively work with the Regional Cancer Clinical Leads, Regional Cancer program leadership and Patient Family Advisors (PFAs) to identify regional clinical needs, create work plans, and implement projects and initiatives in accordance with funding deliverables, and both the Ontario Cancer Plan and the Waterloo Wellington Regional Cancer Plan.
- Person-centred Care: To support and deliver quality person-centred care in Waterloo Wellington through the promotion of services provided through the Regional Cancer Program such as patient experience and engagement, symptom management and psychosocial oncology. Developing strong relationships, especially with all regional partners is key.
- Data and Reporting: To monitor regional cancer performance data and flag changes in performance, missing data etc. to regional manager for action. To facilitate the completion of OH-CCO reports (i.e., quarterly performance, year-end) action plans, proposals, and other documentation as required. To collaborate with multiple stakeholders, internal and external, to ensure priorities and metrics are successfully achieved.
- Coordinates with GRRCC leadership, management and PFAs to identify clinical project needs, create project plans, and implement.
- Ensures that all organized initiatives align with GRH Strategic Plan, GRH Integrated Plan, Ontario Cancer Plan, WW Regional Cancer Plan and the WW Indigenous Cancer Plan as well the priorities of the GRRCC Cancer Program.
- Embraces and utilizes recognized Quality Improvement approaches for planning, implementing, monitoring and measuring projects or project components.
- Utilizes sound project delivery practices by identifying challenges and leading initiatives and activities to ensure timely completion.
- Utilizes strong clinical background to engage with the project team, develop new workflows and support team with processes to enhance patient care.
- Supports best practice when planning projects. This includes connecting with other cancer programs to understand current process and practices.
- Communicates and updates program managers regularly of program initiatives and project progress.
- Utilizes data and flags change in performance, missing data etc. to the appropriate manager to support both project progress and sustainability.
- Collaborates with the management team to assist other initiatives when necessary.
- Attends and participates in meetings. Prepares all support materials and agendas as necessary.
- Undergraduate degree in a health related discipline required.
- Completion of Masters in a health related discipline, business or quality improvement is an asset
- Completion of Courses or certification in project management is preferred – demonstration of project leadership is required
- Completion of Courses or certification in Quality improvement (QI) is preferred – demonstration of the use of recognized QI practices is required
- Experience with research and/or literature an asset.
- Knowledge of the cancer system is preferred.
- 2 – 4 years in an ambulatory health care environment is required
- 1-2 years in an ambulatory oncology environment is preferred
- Demonstrated experience managing complex projects involving the health care environment is required.
- Strong computer knowledge and skills (e.g. Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Publisher, WebEx, and MS Project an asset) and ability to review data as needed.
- Well-developed interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. Experience with oral and written presentations is required.
- Strong analytical and problem solving ability with a broad-based outlook/perspective in health care.
- Ability to multitask, take initiative and work both independently and in a team environment
- Demonstrated priority management skills with respect to deadlines.
