In April 2024, the Boards of St. Mary’s General and Grand River Hospitals both independently voted in favour of a voluntary merger of the Hospitals to form a new hospital organization. **Please Note**:New employees must provide documentation/proof of full COVID-19 vaccination status, a 2-step TB screening, as well as proof of immunity to measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella (chickenpox) prior to their start date at St. Mary’s General Hospital. Staff will require clearance from Employee Health and Wellness before they are able to begin any position within SMGH.

**Position Summary**:
St. Mary's General Hospital Project Manager functions as an internal consultant to facilitate various change improvement initiatives throughout the organization that are integrated with the Vision and Strategic Directions of the hospital; acting as catalyst for change. This role will be working most closely with clinical and corporate teams on projects that are intended to develop, enhance or improve and make more efficient the operations in the hospital.

**Position Responsibilities**:

- Lead the development of key project artifacts and deliverables such as a project charter, scope of work, project schedule and work breakdown structure, cost estimates, resource plans, communications plans, and risk management plans
- Monitor schedules, costs, scope and quality and provide regular status updates
- Plan and coordinate work, understand and effectively manage resources, prioritize steps to be taken, anticipate potential risks/issues/barriers and develop contingency plans to address these, and execute individual and team activities in a way that ensures the achievement of a set of objectives
- Adapt communication and interpersonal skills to deal effectively with patients and their families, co-workers, physicians, volunteers and others within our health care community, relevant to the project
- Lead teams through improvement initiatives using a rapid cycle learning approach and PDSA methodology
- Conduct project evaluations and document lessons learned throughout the project
- Ensure transition planning is part of the project scope to ensure sustainability of changes after the project closes
- Provide leadership to the project team regarding project management methodology and best practice
- Maintain project documentation repositories
- Demonstrate values and a commitment to foster a healthy, supportive work environment dedicated to delivering a high-quality care experience though compassion, innovation and respect.

**Position Requirements**:

- Master’s degree in related area preferred
- Clinical background is an asset
- Minimum five (5) to seven (7) years practical and related Project Management experience
- Completion of formal training in Project Management and a proven capability to work and collaborate with all levels of the organization.
- Proven experience utilizing Project Management principles.
- Analytical skills including the ability to collect analyze and interpret both qualitative and quantitative data
- Demonstrated ability to positively influence and facilitate change.
- Successfully able to perform their function in accordance with prescribed standards that focus on the priority of People Safety and the delivery of the highest standard of Quality Care.
- Demonstrate the physical and mental capabilities necessary for proper and efficient performance of the essential duties of the position.
