We have an exciting opportunity for a Civil/Structural Engineering Technologist to join our Ports & Marine team. The preferred location for this position is in either our Halifax or Sydney office. However, we are open to considering other CBCL branch offices or a remote/hybrid work arrangement.

We are seeking a motivated, and detail-oriented individual who cares deeply about the quality of their work associated with new and rehabilitated Ports & Marine infrastructure projects. As our ideal candidate, you will work with an established team of professional engineers and technologists in developing innovative multidisciplinary design solutions with an emphasis on client satisfaction. In this role you will have opportunities to work on a wide variety of high-profile, complex projects and gain experience on infrastructure projects that have a significant impact on our communities.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development of conceptual, preliminary, and detailed designs for the full range of Ports & Marine infrastructure projects including wharf structures, dredging and breakwaters, etc.;
  • Prepare drawing packages for a wide range of projects;
  • Support the day-to-day activities of projects from inception through engineering, construction and contract administration;
  • Perform Site inspections and reviews on construction sites with the support of senior team members; and
  • Prepare technical reports and cost estimates.

Your capabilities and credentials:

  • A diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or a related field is required (equivalent combination of education and/or experience will also be considered);
  • Thorough working ability with Civil 3D and AutoCAD software with above average drawing production capabilities;
  • Ability to complete quantity take-offs;
  • Proficient at working diligently to meet time-sensitive deadlines; and
  • Hold a valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to job sites.

What will make you stand out:

  • Experience working in a consulting environment is preferred;
  • Working knowledge of Revit, Infraworks or GIS would be considered an asset; and
  • Ability to carry out data collection activities including topographic survey and infrastructure investigations.
