OVERVIEW
Dentons is seeking a dynamic, thoughtful and strategic Manager, Internal Communications to join our National Operations team. The Manager, Internal Communications will lead high-profile communication projects and provide strategic communication advice in support of business processes as well as national strategic initiatives. The successful candidate will also contribute to the evolution and enhancement of our communications processes and framework and guide the work of junior members of the internal communications team.
Working closely with leadership, key stakeholders, and the broader external and internal communications team, this position will leverage key internal communications channels, to share news and relevant internal information, including proactively sourcing content and stories to continue building our Dentons community and culture.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Build strong working relationships and act as a trusted advisor while partnering with business services and cross-functional teams providing sound communications advice, guidance and best practices to enhance employee engagement and visibility of communication efforts.
- Develop and execute internal communication plans for internal key business processes, key strategic and national project and change management communications.
- Identify appropriate audience and formats for content, including understanding concerns of internal audience and actively address those concerns with effective communication.
- Craft clear, impactful messaging for internal audiences and proactively contribute to the Dentons Canada intranet portal (built on SharePoint) and internal editorial calendar to ensure relevant, timely and accurate content to a range of internal audiences.
- Collaborate with the Director, Internal Communications and other team members to ensure cohesive messaging and unified communications.
- Create key communication materials, including presentations, speeches, talking points, executive messaging and digital content.
- Maintain connection points with Profile and Client Development team for opportunities to internally communicate Dentons news.
- Liaise with global communications team on strategic initiatives to be circulated / adapted for Canada where applicable.
- Define success metrics for communication initiatives, measuring effectiveness and making data-driven recommendations for improvement.
- Stay current on communication trends, tools and process and technology, bringing innovative ideas to improve communications processes and impact. Support the Director, Internal Communications in managing and enhancing internal communications channels and platforms.
- Provide strategic counsel during crisis communication scenarios, ensuring timely, accurate, and consistent messaging across internal platforms.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
- Post-secondary degree in communications, public relations, marketing or a related field and/or an equivalent combination of education/work experience.
- 5- 8 years of progressive experience in corporate communications, internal communications or public relations. With exposure to external communications. Experience in a law firm or professional services environment is considered an asset.
- Experience managing high-profile projects and providing strategic communication counsel, including developing and executing strategic communications plans to internal business partners in a large organization.
- Strong attention to detail; excellent writing, editing and verbal communication skills.
- Highly effective project management, prioritization, multi-tasking and time management skills to meet deadlines.
- Strong ability to effectively build relationships with internal clients and colleagues at all levels of the firm.
- Problem solving and critical thinking skills, with ability to anticipate concerns or issues.
- Technologically savvy with effective working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, SharePoint, and familiarity with video and/or podcast platforms
- Ability to effectively manage confidential and/or sensitive information; demonstrated commitment to privacy and ethical conduct.
- Bilingualism (English/French) an asset, but not required.
