The Opportunity

The Finance Department provides financial leadership, advice and support to the Corporation and assists with the delivery of Council’s Strategic plan through its four essential services: accounting services, corporate finance, procurement and revenue management. The department's main deliverables include the audited financial statements, coordinating the annual business plan and budget, treasury and debt management, procurement administration and support, property tax revenue management, and water and wastewater revenue management.

The Accounting Clerk II (Accounts Payable) is responsible for receiving and processing invoices for payment by the City of Barrie, ensuring compliance with the Procurement Bylaw and Corporate policies. This position works closely with internal and external clients regarding status of payments.

Education
  • Three (3) year College Diploma in Accounting

Don’t meet the education credentials as outlined above but have years of directly related experience? Please see the City’s Education Equivalency Policy to determine if you may qualify for equivalency.

Experience
  • Two (2) years of related experience with processing a high volume of invoices
Knowledge/Skill/Ability
  • Computer literacy utilizing Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel)
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and research skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines

Hours:

The normal hours of work are 35 hours per week in accordance with the Collective Agreement.

Wage:

This position is within the CUPE Local 2380 Bargaining Unit with the following pay level and 2025 pay range:

  • Pay Level: Level 4
  • Yearly Salary: $53,853.80 to $64,482.60
  • Hourly Pay Rate: $29.59 to $35.43
