Job Title: Trainmaster

Canadian Pacific Railway (CPKC) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Trainmaster to join our team. As a Trainmaster, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of traffic within our road territory and yard-terminal.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, organize, and execute the daily yard-terminal/road operating plan in a safe and cost-effective manner.
  • Lead a team of operating crews, Yardmasters, support staff, and Assistant Trainmasters to ensure compliance with Local Service Operating Plan (LSOP) and Operating Plan.
  • Conduct efficiency tests, train rides, and safety-related activities to support a safe and efficient operation.
  • Investigate safety rule and policy failures, and respond to safety, health, and environmental incidents.
  • Participate in safety and business plan roll-outs across the region.
Requirements:
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Previous railway experience.
  • Operations-related experience is an asset.
  • Ability to understand and comply with Operating Plan and Local Service Operating Plan.
  • Qualified Locomotive Engineer certification is an asset.
  • Must become Conductor or Engineer qualified and occasionally operate trains.
  • Rules qualified (CROR - Canadian Rail Operating Rules).
  • Maintain certifications and licenses (i.e. Engineer Certification).
