Job Title: Trainmaster

Canadian Pacific Railway (CPKC) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Trainmaster to join our team. As a Trainmaster, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of traffic within our road territory and yard-terminal.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, organize, and execute the daily yard-terminal/road operating plan in a safe and cost-effective manner.
  • Ensure compliance with Local Service Operating Plan (LSOP) and Operating Plan on a daily basis.
  • Supervise operating (train) crews, Yardmasters, support staff, and Assistant Trainmasters.
  • Investigate safety rules and policy failures, and respond to safety, health, and environmental incidents.
  • Participate in safety and business plan roll-outs across the region.
  • Identify opportunities to increase yard/road fluidity and productivity.
  • Manage a team of employees, including recruitment, development, and performance management.
  • Ensure compliance with CPKC's policies and collective agreements.
Requirements:
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Previous railway experience.
  • Operations-related experience is an asset.
  • Ability to understand and interpret Operating Plan and LSOP.
  • Conductor or Locomotive Engineer certification is an asset.
  • Rules qualification (CROR) is required.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve complex issues.
  • Willingness to work on a 7x24 basis.
