Job Title: Trainmaster

Canadian Pacific Railway (CP) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Trainmaster to join our team. As a Trainmaster, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of trains within our road territory and yard-terminal.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, organize, and execute the daily yard-terminal/road operating plan to maximize fluidity and achieve Local Service Operating Plan (LSOP) and Operating Plan compliance.
  • Supervise operating crews, Yardmasters, support staff, and Assistant Trainmasters to ensure safe and tactical execution of the Operating Plan.
  • Accountable for inputs and outputs of safety, service, productivity, and financial metrics, as well as adherence to corporate values and regulatory environment.
  • Conduct efficiency tests, train rides, and safety-related activities to support a safe and efficient operation.
  • Investigate safety rule and policy failures, respond to safety, health, and environmental incidents, and implement corrective actions.
Requirements:
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Previous railway experience, with operations-related experience being an asset.
  • Ability to understand the Operating Plan and Local Service Operating Plan, as well as compliance to it as it pertains to the yard.
  • Conductor or Engineer qualification, with the ability to operate trains.
  • Rules qualification (CROR - Canadian Rail Operating Rules) and maintenance of certifications and licenses.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to analyze and resolve complex issues.
